About Me

Through tutoring middle and high school, as well as college students, over the past two years I have honed my experience as a teacher to fit the specific needs of individual students. Most recently, I have worked as a peer writing assistant at NYU's Gallatin Writing Center, assisting college students with essays--ranging from personal narratives to research papers. I've also worked closely with a family of two children, now 14 and 17, and I have helped them with everything from deep literary analysis to homework organization, from Spanish flashcards to SAT prep, from short piano lessons to high school admissions quizzes. In May, I graduated with Summa Cum Laude honors from NYU's Gallatin School of Interdisciplinary Study. In addition to my experience tutoring, I have taught instrument instruction, music history, and songwriting to groups of 5-15 children every summer for six years, and now run a series of week-long music intensive programs in Brooklyn. As Director for this nonprofit program, I am not only in charge of developing appropriate curriculum for groups of children with diverse interests, but also of training a staff of 30+ teaching artists to be effective teachers and mentors. As a tutor, I will be most effective with kids ages 10+ of all genders, especially those encountering difficulties around reading and writing. I am qualified for general homework help, organization, planning, as well a reading comprehension, writing and test prep. Above all, I love working with kids, empowering them to reach their fullest potential!
