About Me

I am a graduate of The College of the Holy Cross where I double majored in English and Music. I am also a graduate of Tufts University where I earned a Master's of Arts in Ethnomusicology. Recently, I became certified to teach English through the Connecticut State Department of Education. As early as college I began tutoring. I have tutored in Math, Music, English as a Second Language, Reading, and Writing. I have tutored while living on both coasts as well as while living in South America. I love working one-on-one with students, meeting the challenges of discovering what strategies work best with each student. I regularly use Howard Gardner's Theory of Multiple Intelligences as a touchstone for the work I do with students, incorporating visual, musical, and kinesthetic strategies into my teaching. I love watching my students learn, develop, and grow both as students and as individuals. My goal is to build the confidence and skills each student needs to become a successful independent and lifelong learner. To continue my own learning, I am an avid reader and an extensive traveler; my most recent trips include Italy and South Africa. I enjoy spending time with my family, gardening, painting, music, and soccer.
