I'm a senior studying Literature and Creative Writing with a Music minor at New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD). My interest in tutoring began during my high school years in Ann Arbor, Michigan, where I taught guitar lessons and developed curriculums for INNO, an educational summer camp. Since then, I've been developing my academic, artistic, and instructional skills at university, facilitating leadership workshops and first-year dialogue sessions while taking courses in a rigorous liberal arts curriculum. I've been an editor of the NYUAD student creative publication, Airport Road, and I maintain a career as an independent singer/songwriter, often creating music for theater projects both on and off campus. In addition to my sessions through Varsity Tutors, I am currently a peer tutor at the NYUAD writing center, where I work with students from a range of academic disciplines and participate in weekly pedagogical training. Through this work, I have developed a passion for helping students identify and improve their communication skills. One of my favorite parts of tutoring is when I am able to gain insight into the connections between creative and academic writing. I believe that effective storytelling is a central part of all good writing, so I try to help my students recognize both the story they are currently telling and the story they want to tell--and the steps they can take to move a piece from the former to the latter.

I have been teaching a first-year seminar in the social sciences for two years now and believe that mentorship is invaluable to a student's success. I am in the 8-year direct med program at Virginia Commonwealth University. I plan to receive a major in Bioinformatics and a minor in Mathematics. I have a plethora of experience tutoring elementary school students in math and reading as well as high school students in AP Chemistry, ACT, and college admission essays. I am most passionate about helping students learn content, tips, and tricks needed for them to excel on the ACT as well as about helping kids establish a strong foundation for their pre-algebra skills.
