Few art history tutors have actually made art professionally. Emily's MFA in Photography from SCAD means she can explain compositional choices, material techniques, and visual rhetoric from the inside — whether a student is analyzing a Baroque altarpiece or a Cindy Sherman self-portrait. She teaches students to build interpretive arguments that connect formal analysis to broader cultural and historical contexts.

As a studio art major who spends time both making and studying art, Parker brings firsthand creative context to art history concepts like formal analysis, iconography, and period identification. He teaches students to look at a painting or sculpture and articulate not just what they see but why the artist made specific compositional choices within a broader cultural moment.
Every painting, sculpture, or building is an argument made in stone or pigment — and Vivian reads those arguments fluently. Her Medieval Studies and Classics training at Fordham covers iconography, patronage systems, and stylistic evolution from Greek temples through Gothic cathedrals, while her current role as a museum educator means she's practiced at making visual analysis intuitive rather than abstract.
I am a graduate of Florida State University, where I received a Bachelor of Arts in Art History and English, and University of North Carolina--Chapel Hill, where I received a Master of Science in Library Science. I currently work as Assistant Curator of Visual Resources in the History of Art department at Vanderbilt University. In my downtime I enjoy reading and hiking with my dog.
Studying architecture at Columbia means Andrew doesn't just talk about visual analysis in the abstract — he's trained to read buildings, spaces, and design movements as historical documents. He walks students through formal analysis techniques and contextual framing, whether they're tackling Romanesque cathedrals or Bauhaus furniture. Rated 4.9 by students.
Few art history tutors can talk about a Baroque altarpiece as both a visual composition and a tool of colonial power — Sarah can, thanks to her dual training in anthropology and visual art. She teaches students to build formal analyses that link technique (brushwork, perspective, use of light) to the broader social and political worlds that shaped each work.
I am a senior at Yale University majoring in Humanities. That means I get to study a wide variety of subjects: history, english, philosophy, art history, political philosophy, and more! I've worked as a coach on a rock climbing team for 3 years, so I have a lot of experience working with kids and teens of all ages. Through my volunteer work at an ancient art museum, I also gained experience designing classes and presentations for adults. My passion is writing, so I'm most excited to tutor English and help with college applications; having recently gone through the college application process myself, I am confident I can help craft stellar applications. When I'm not studying or tutoring, I love to rock climb and generally do anything outside. I love hiking, wakeboarding, and kayaking, and can talk about the outdoors for hours!
Analyzing a Caravaggio painting or a Bauhaus building requires a specific kind of close reading — one that connects formal choices to cultural context. Daniel's graduate training in the humanities at the University of Chicago, combined with his grounding in philosophy and religious studies, gives him a framework for unpacking iconography, patronage, and the intellectual movements behind artistic production. He teaches students to build visual analyses that are as rigorous as any written argument.
I am a high school history teacher who has also worked as a teaching assistant at one of the country's top 10 colleges. I've taught ACT/SAT prep for about 4 years to students at all ends of the academic spectrum: from those working with learning disabilities/accommodations & struggling with timing to those trying to achieve perfect scores. Although I always create individualized plans, I focus on teaching every student the most effective, step-by-step way to approach each question on each section of the test. Beyond test prep, I've taught/tutored just about every academic subject through the undergraduate level. Outside the classroom, I enjoy reading about history, going to church, coaching sports (track & tennis), and spending time with my family. I really enjoy getting to know each student I teach as we work toward our goals.
I am a senior at The University of Georgia studying finance and entrepreneurship. I have completed summer internships with SunTrust Robinson Humphrey in Atlanta as well as with Moelis & Company in New York City. After graduating in May, I will be joining Alvarez & Marsal, a management consultancy. I have a passion for learning as well as helping others unlock their potential.
I'm an experienced teacher and tutor with a Bachelors in English from the University of Alabama and a Masters in Literature and the Humanities from St. Edward's University, looking to help my students share in my love of learning!
I am a rising sophomore at Brown University from Newton, MA majoring in Biochemistry with outside interests in East Asian studies, Slavic studies, and art history. I'm comfortable working with chemistry, biology, most math subjects, and SAT Reading and Math, but am especially confident with tutoring Mandarin Chinese, as a native Chinese speaker with experience teaching a beginning Chinese course in the middle school support program at the Wheeler School in Providence, RI. If you're interested in improving your Chinese (or just looking to start a new language!), please reach out to me! I will be working as a teaching assistant for a biology course at Brown this summer, but am always looking for more ways to get involved in education.
I am very comfortable and confident in not only tutoring them but doing so at a level and style that students can readily follow and understand. I have taken higher level math courses and understand the fundamentals very well so it allows me to teach them in a way that is basic enough for anyone to understand.
I'm eager to help you in whatever way I can! I'm a graduate of Harvard (BA, Social Anthropology) and Columbia (MA, Human Rights) and have spent years tutoring students in a variety of subjects. I'm a firm believer that effective tutoring stems from developing a program that is tailored and highly customized to individual students. I look forward to working with you!
I am a rising sophomore at Kenyon College, a small liberal arts school an hour out of Columbus, Ohio, majoring in Philosophy. It is difficult to identify a specialty of mine because I have worked with students from 1st grade through high school on topics ranging from elementary science to trigonometry test prep, but my foremost strength is the three sections of the SAT. I have roughly three years of experience tutoring and last year taught a test prep class. My approach to tutoring is to identify a students strengths and build upon them through frequent quizzes and reflective analysis. Additionally, having just gone through the college admissions process, I am privy to its length and complexity so can lend advice on anything, namely essays. I have plenty of experience writing and have been published in a local newspaper. While I think math is the easiest subject for me to teach, writing and writing skills are my favorite to teach because to see a writers progress is an extraordinary sight and, further, challenge.
I am a friendly, patient, sociable, articulate person and I look forward to helping you succeed!
