My name is Marius Unnvik. I'm originally from Norway, but I have lived in the United States since high school. I completed my Bachelor of Science degree (majors: psychology, history; minor: comparative religion and philosophy) at Central Methodist University in Missouri and am currently in the fourth year of my PhD program in experimental psychology at the University of Arkansas. I have tutored and mentored undergraduate students for nearly six years, including when I was an undergraduate student myself. Through my job in the Spark Lab (https://sparklab.uark.edu/students/), I have managed a team of ten research assistants since the Fall of 2023. As a PhD candidate, I mentor students on many subjects. I also mentor honors students through the process of writing a bachelor thesis. I have broad academic interests, but I'm particularly passionate about teaching students how to write more formally, create scientific research projects, navigate statistics, code statistical models (using R software), present academic materials, study more effectively, and take the GRE.

I am a graduate of Arkansas Tech University with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science. I also received certificates of proficiency for Mathematics and Applied Statistics while I attended. Education in our society is required for one to be successful, to not be taken advantage of. I believe that students need the skills that math and programming teaches to be able to navigate the world around them. If I can also instill a passion for math along the way, that is merely a bonus.
I am a freshman college mechanical engineering student. I have a great passion for learning math and helping other students understand it as well. It even helps me reinforce my own knowledge when I teach others. I hope to give every student the same understanding and passion that I have and I wish to help in any way possible!!
My previous tutoring experience comes from tutoring students at my high school and at the Gideon Math and Reading Center. I often taught math topics that students were not able to understand or specific problems. The math topics were usually geometry or algebra 2 questions/concepts. I also taught ACT and PSAT concepts to students. I also often helped my friends and my sister with difficult math homework problems that were assigned. Math is my strong suit and therefore, I am most comfortable teaching these subjects well. However, in regards to sciences or English, I am knowledgeable in these subject areas as well.
Welcome! I'm Dr. Dan, an award-winning consultant, researcher, and tutor. I hold a Doctor of Business Administration from Edgwood University, and a Master of Public Service from the University of Arkansas Clinton School of Public Service. I am passionate about learning, so most of my time is spent either acquiring new knowledge or sharing it with others. I have spent much of the last ten years tutoring and consulting students and adults in test prep strategy, with a specialty for those who suffer from test anxiety. I have worked with over 200 students over the years, resulting in an average 3-point increase in their ACT scores and better grades. I enjoy spending much of my time tutoring in humanities and social sciences subjects, such as history, Philosophy, and Writing. I believe that education can transform minds and our world. I hope to be a partner in your learning, whether it involves acquiring new information or solidifying existing knowledge.
As a second-year medical student with a strong foundation in science and a passion for education, I specialize in making tough subjects easier to understand. I excel in math, biology, physics, and other challenging topics that often intimidate students and I genuinely enjoy helping others master them. My approach combines patience, clarity, and high-level understanding to break down complex ideas into manageable, confidence-boosting lessons. Whether it's reviewing homework or prepping for exams, I'm here to support and motivate students at any level below mine to reach their full academic potential. My interests include: Weightlifting and fitness training (especially strength and hypertrophy programs) Morning cardio and physical conditioning Studying medicine with a focus on anatomy, physiology, and clinical problem-solving Teaching and tutoring tough academic subjects like math, biology, and physics Watching anime as a way to relax and recharge (especially after a long day) Cooking (with a focus on high-protein, keto/carnivore meals)
I believe anyone can do well in school. I believe timelines aren't for everyone, but I believe that progress should be judged as a function of effort, a function whose derivative is always positive :)
I'm not tutoring or buried in my textbooks, you will either find me rock climbing at the Triangle Rock Club, playing Ultimate Frisbee, working on my car, or enjoying the great outdoors (beaches, mountains, forests--you name it, I love it). On rainy weekends I enjoy tinkering with computers and old electronics, playing Pokemon, or picking at my guitar.
I am an interdisciplinary educator with an Ed.M. from the Harvard Graduate School of Education and a B.A. from Dartmouth College. My background is primarily in integrated arts learning and museum education and I specialize in visual arts, history and art history, and object-based learning. In all subjects, I take a creative, inquiry-based and learner-centered approach, designing opportunities for each unique individual to meet their learning goals.
I am a recent graduate from a masters program in biostatistics at Columbia University. I received my Bachelor of Arts in biological sciences, with a focus in neurobiology at Northwestern University. In August, I will be starting a doctoral program in biostatistics at NYU. I was a teaching assistant at Columbia University in my department and also have tutored graduate students and undergraduates privately as well. My primary areas of tutoring are math and statistics coursework in addition to math sections on standardized tests such as the GRE and GMAT. I am very passionate about helping students feel more confident and excited about math. In my spare time, I enjoy running, playing piano, and spending time with friends and family.
I am a graduate of Wesleyan University, where I received my Bachelor of Arts in Sociology with High Honors. With eight years of experience working in education, I've tutored students in math, science, history, and English, as well as helped students prepare for standardized tests. I've guided adults towards passing the US Citizenship Exam and taught English in India, where I lived for six months. Whenever I work with a student I personalize the lessons to fit their particular learning style, since I know every student is unique and having the right fit can make all the difference in making learning fun and effective. My strengths are tutoring the social sciences and humanities, as well as making math and standardized tests approachable to students that normally don't like those subjects. In my spare time I like traveling, spending time in the outdoors (climbing & backpacking), meditation, and playing soccer. Next fall I will be beginning my PhD in Education at Harvard University.
I'm Solange - a recent graduate from Harvard where I studied Sociology & Women's Studies. I've been tutoring for eight years now, and have worked with a wide range of ages and in a wide range of subjects. Some of my specialties are college prep/test taking II worked in the admissions office on campus); social sciences; and literature/writing.
