Hello everyone! I am a student at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. I am a transfer student into the university which means I have attained my Associates in Science Degree at another college, Central Piedmont Community College. I am currently working towards my Bachelors in Psychology and possibly a minor in Neuroscience. I don't have much official tutoring experience however I do "tutor" peers in subjects that I tend to do better in to help them understand certain concepts. With that said, I have tutored young children as old as 3 and as old as 25. My favorite subjects to tutor? I definitely like to tutor in math because once I understand the topic it feels wonderful to be able to teach it to someone else and have them understand it as well. I also like to tutor in English because not many people like to write but once you have your main ideas organized on paper and someone to guide you along the way suddenly writing is easier and more interesting. My tutoring philosophy: success is not easy nor an accident hard-work, dedication and a will to learn, succeed, and fail is what creates a successful individual. Learning can be fun if you're willing to take the interest in what you are learning. I did not sign up to drill you on memorizing formulas and the top 50 common prepositions. I am here to better you as student and as a growing individual in every aspect. Outside of academia, I have an unhealthy love for shopping, cheerleading, good food, and quality time with friends.

I first started studying psychology while attending the University of Groningen in The Netherlands and then finished my degree at the University of Oklahoma in the United States. I love studying the mechanisms behind how humans think and behave and how psychology is fundamentally linked to both the sciences and humanities. Besides psychology, I also focused on classes in professional writing, and I have been editing and tutoring writing since I was studying for my International Baccalaureate degree in high school. I currently live in the UK where I'm doing my Masters in International Education and Development.I tutor Writing and English at all academic levels, as well as Psychology and Social Studies. My favorite topics to tutor are psychology and writing because they are both multidisciplinary subjects and therefore flexible and adaptable to almost any situation. My teaching philosophy is built on what I learned studying psychology: everyone is different and thus, everyone learns differently and has different needs and goals when it comes to education. I try to be a tutor who helps create a unique learning environment to suit the necessities of each individual student. Tutoring sessions are a two-way conversation, and as a tutor, I try to facilitate the concerns of my student and give them the resources and guidance they require to meet their goals.I've been a world traveler since birth and when Im not tutoring, I spend my time writing and editing. My hobbies are reading, painting, swimming and searching for my next adventure. I love learning about new things and meeting new people, as well as getting to share my own stories.

Currently, I am a pre-med student at the University of South Carolina studying Cardiovascular Technology. Primarily, I tutor high school and undergraduate level chemistry. I use a more demonstrative as opposed to a lecturing approach for tutoring chemistry as I feel that this is the most efficient way to understand this subject. I have experience tutoring undergraduate peers as well as high school students through general chemistry courses. I am passionate about chemistry and helping others understand and love this subject as I do.

I am a recent graduate of Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas with a B.S. in Neuroscience cum laude. I am living in Austin until I begin medical school in July. Tutoring has always been a hobby of mine, and I continued my passion for teaching during college by being the Peer Tutor for a Statistics course and a Biology course at Trinity. Additionally, I tutored middle and high school students in the San Antonio community while working for a company similar to Varsity Tutoring. My favorite part of being a tutor is seeing the light-bulb moment happen for my students when they finally grasp a concept they???ve been struggling with. Usually with my students and as a student myself, I find that explaining concepts in a different way with language that is more understandable or connecting it to real-world experiences goes a long way. As a competitive swimmer for the past 15 years and the captain of my college team, I understand the desire students have for excelling in both the classroom and in their extracurricular activities and the struggle that can occur between balancing them. Besides tutoring, I enjoy traveling, spending time with my family and my dog, and cooking!

I recently graduated from the University of Delaware with a degree in Elementary Education and Special Education. I have always had a passion for working with kids of all ages, and I am happy to have reached the point in my professional development in which I have the opportunity to help students achieve academic success and strive to reach their full potential. I believe in using cognitive modeling to help students gain a conceptual understanding of content by guiding them through the thought process and gradually releasing responsibility. I work to help students gain a better understanding of material by engaging students by using visual, auditory, tactile, and kinesthetic learning techniques. I can work with students in grades K-8 to improve: reading, writing, math, phonics, history, science, and study skills. I find guiding students to success to be a truly rewarding experience, and I believe I can help improve students understanding of a variety of skills necessary for academic success.
