I graduated from the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in NYC in 2008, the oldest English speaking acting conservatory in the world. I graduated Summa from University of St Thomas with a BA in English, and just wrapped up a MS in Data Science from Northwestern.I'm a huge Red Sox fan and love watching detective shows when I have free time.

My friends and work peers know me as one who always carries a hardcopy book and a kindle tablet. And if they saw the backseat of my car, they would observe a mini bookcase, with some of my favorite books. I have a deep passion for learning. Accordingly, I believe whole hearted in education. It enriches the human situation and serves one for a better life. I wish my students - sometimes in poor districts - a great life! Education and learning is a catalyst for this. It is this mindset why I like to tutor.

I have loved math all my life and I took lots of it in school as I obtained my BS in Electrical Engineering Technology. I even attended math contests. Now I have the opportunity to help others with their math. I have been tutoring for more than nine years and I really enjoy it. I work with students in middle school, high school and college level math. My daytime job, for six plus years, was tutoring college students in math and electronics. I don't just give out the answers but I help the student with the methods to find the answers. I can help with algebra I and II, geometry, trigonometry, pre-calculus, calculus, AP calculus, math I, II and III. I am also very good with computers and Microsoft Excel.

I am a graduate of the University of Kansas. I received my Bachelor of Arts in Linguistics and in Germanic Languages and Literature. I absolutely love to travel and experience different cultures! After graduating from KU in 2013, I spent a year in Northeastern Germany working as an au pair. I am most passionate about and have the most experience with German and English as a Second Language, however I am also very interested in History. That said, I am excited for all of the challenges that come with tutoring, and I am determined to do my very best to make your learning experience as enjoyable and worthwhile as possible!

I graduated from Skidmore College in 2012 with a Bachelor's degree in History/Theater and a minor in Creative Writing. Growing up in Westchester County, New York I began tutoring elementary and middle school students at my local JCC in a multitude of subjects. Starting my junior year of college, I worked in the History Department as tutor, with a strong emphasis on helping students in American and European History. I am most passionate about tutoring students in History and English, including AP courses. I feel that I bring a creative and unique approach to my tutoring, and I actively work to help my students find a personal connection to a subject or topic they have previously struggled with. Every student has the capacity for improvement. In my spare time I like to read, write, watch movies, hike and play tennis.

I am currently an engineering student at Columbia University. My favorite subjects to tutor are math, physics and introductory Chinese, as well as SAT prep. I know how stressful standardized testing can be, and therefore I hope to help my students prepare both academically and mentally, introducing them to new ways of thinking about problems that will make the questions easier to answer correctly.My teaching style is heavily based on understanding. Although there are many little tricks that can be taught to help students correctly answer math problems, these tricks often come at the cost of true understanding. Only when a student truly knows the material with a certain amount of depth will he/she be able to answer the most challenging questions.Outside of class, my interests are music and sports. I've played the drums for over eight years, and making music is one of my favorite hobbies. I also closely follow baseball and football, and enjoy playing basketball for fun.

I graduated, with Honors, from Beloit College. I received my Bachelor of Arts in English Literature. Under the mentorship of a Psychology professor, I designed and completed a minor in Pediatric Behavioral Medicine.After graduation, I worked at the National Kidney Foundation of Illinois Volunteer Support Coordinator.A short time time later, after my summer wedding, I left in order to pursue graduate studies. I received a Master of Science in Child Development with a Specialization in Infancy from Erikson Institute. While working on my M.A., I volunteered as an after school tutor for Brain Boosters.After receiving my M.S., I accepted an offer to become Director of Brain Boosters. My position allowed me to work directly and indirectly with students ages 5-12. Also, I educated and supported all of our college-age and adult tutors. During my time as Director, I gave birth to two boys.After the birth of my second son, I pursued and obtained my licensure in Pediatric Developmental Therapy for the State of Illinois Early Intervention Program.For the past twelve years I maintained my DT credentials and received my licensure in Pediatric Developmental Therapy Evaluation for the State of Illinois Early Intervention Program. Shortly after becoming a certified evaluator, I gave birth to my daughter.Several years ago, the needs of my three children required for me to have a more flexible schedule. I reduced my DT schedule and accepted a tutoring job with VIPKID.Presently, I am tutoring native Chinese children ranging in age from 3-16. The main focus of the program is teaching English reading, writing and speaking. Additionally, I obtained certifications that allow me to teach advanced grammar, public speaking, writing, science and phonetic awareness.When not working I enjoy spending time with my husband, three children and our dog. However, the job of motherhood is quite a lot of work.I am a lifelong learner and teacher. I believe that everyone has the capacity to learn. I quickly and easily adjust to meet the needs of each individual student and bring patience to each lesson.
