I recently graduated from Babson College with a bachelor's in Science. I was born in the Dominican Republic. I moved to the United States when I was eight years. Throughout my education career, I worked in a variety of different fields. The one thing that remained the same for me, was my mission to help others.I enjoy helping others because seeing them happy, makes me happy. In high school, I decided to run my own tutoring services, where I helped middle schoolers with their language levels, both English and Spanish. I also tutored in the math field. When it came to Algebra, I also frequently tutored my high school friends. One efficient strategy that worked for me was having the person I tutored, tutor me back. Having them teach me how to solve a problem, or how to pronounce or say something correctly, showed me if they learned something, or were still confused.I consider myself to be an outgoing person. Someone who likes to meet new people. I also liked solving problems. Combining these two, was where my passion for teaching began. When I was younger, I wanted to be a math teacher. It was something about standing next to the board and pointing out the series of steps I took in order to get to the correct answer.Enough said about me. I am here to serve as a resource. I most recently worked as an investigative journalist and have published over 20 articles this year. I tutored French for four years with Northwestern's Department of French and Italian, and I previously tutored math (from kindergarten to SAT prep) with Mathnasium. I also taught English as a second language through the Paper Airplanes program, which pairs tutors with Syrian refugees for virtual lessons. I gained a DALF C1 in French at the end of a year-long exchange program through Rotary, and I am comfortable tutoring the language at any level. Besides French, I enjoy with students on SAT prep and college application essays. I am passionate about teaching and know what it takes to create a personalized program to help students reach their goals. Outside of tutoring, I'm an avid reader with a particular passion for modern Middle Eastern history, and I love watching cycling and going for bike rides.

I started my career attending a military high school in Nigeria where I learned basic discipline such as being timely, planning my schedule, and leadership skills. I then proceeded to a 6th form school where I obtained an Advanced Level Certificate in chemistry, mathematics, and physics from the Cambridge university examination board in Nigeria. After my 6th form education, I moved to New York and started college at BMCC. I spent about three semesters at BMCC then I transferred to City College where I intend to obtain a bachelors degree in bio-medical engineering. My future aspiration after my BSC is to go to graduate school for my masters and PHD at Princeton University. I also intend to join the United States Army where I plan to practice my bio-medical profession by helping the disabled veterans. I took particular interest in math back in Nigeria where I tutored students preparing them for their GED exam. I also volunteered with New York Cares (NYC), and I tutored in projects like computer training for adult and math games for middle and junior school students. Volunteering at NYC helped improve my teaching skills and expose me to knowing how and why students are scared of math. My approach to tutoring has basically been student dependent where I work at the student's pace and ensure accurate learning in my teaching sessions. Also I make math feel like its alive by using life examples and approach. I love playing soccer and watching movies at my free time.

I'm a PhD Candidate at Texas A&M University, Department of Agricultural Economics. I'm expected to complete my doctoral degree in August 2022. In the beginning of doctoral journey I acted as a teaching assistant, teaching small groups, grading papers, and providing office hours.At the beginning of 2020 I was given the opportunity to act as primary instructor of a course - and taught AGEC 317 (introductory stats/regression analysis) to students for five semesters. This included sudden adjustments to my curriculum due to COVID-19 and University Regulations.I believe a core element of teaching is being engaging. Students who care, learn. Tutoring will offer me opportunities to ask students what interests them and analyze results based on those examples.

I am most recently a graduate of Baylor University where I received a doctorate in Religion, Politics, and Society. I also have an MA in Religion from Andrews University, a law degree from Harvard, and I received my BA in Political Science from the University of Connecticut. I tutor in history, political science, GRE and SAT test prep, and in public speaking and essay writing. I enjoy political science, essay writing and public speaking the most. While working on my doctorate I taught students on the college level, and my philosophy for working with those students informs the way I tutor. I try my best to establish that we are a team, working together to get the right answers and to learn the material. I try to stay away from rigid hierarchy as much as possible, while still making sure that we get the work done. Outside of teaching I am a sports fan (Philadelphia fan forever! Eagles, Sixers, and Phillies in that order, as well as UCONN basketball), and I have recently gotten back into my childhood habit of reading comic books.

I have also learned to adapt lessons for students that have learning disabilities or may learn in a less conventional manner. The focus of my master's degree was on Fiction and Poetry; however, while at Pitt, I received a graduate fellowship that involved teaching a freshman course in English Composition and tutoring at Pitt's Writing Center. The Writing Center is open to any student at the University and students in any discipline can come for tutoring. For example, I might first see a freshman requesting assistance on a short essay for a History course, and my next client might be a graduate student working on a thesis in Philosophy or Economics. I believe that good writing skills are the foundation for success in any discipline. My teaching style could best be described as one where students/teachers contribute equally to discussion and the choice of what to write. Always, always ask questions. Questions will open up new avenues of where you want your writing to go.After graduation, I worked as an adjunct faculty member at Pitt, Jefferson Community College in Steubenville, Ohio, and Duquesne University. The subjects I most commonly taught were English Composition courses and Writing for Business. I also taught Creative Writing for the Western Pennsylvania Writing Project (a summer program for middle and high school students) and did community outreach for women in a local halfway house where we worked on journals and poetry.I have experience in legal writing from many years of employment as a paralegal with a prominent Pittsburgh attorney and have also worked as an administrator at the University of Pittsburgh in the Center for International Studies.I have a lifelong love of literature and typically read at least one novel a week. I will read anything, but my preference is Twentieth Century American writers.
