I graduated from Dartmouth College in 2009 and completed the pre-med post-baccalaureate program at Northwestern this past June (coursework included General Chemistry, Biochemistry, Molecular and Cell Biology, Anatomy and Physiology, Genetics, Organic Chemistry, and Physics). Born and raised in New York City, I studied ballet at the at The Joffrey Ballet School and attended Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts as a Dance major.I have been teaching fitness classes in the Chicago area since 2011 and loves spinning, yoga, barre, and dance fusion classes. My fitness and learning philosophy is to work hard and have fun. I enjoy helping others achieve and surpass their own personal goals. I aim to motivate students while teaching them to be intrinsically motivated through challenging yet supportive lessons and assignments. While at Northwestern, I conducted research in microgravity with the Department of Materials Science and Engineering. My photo is from a parabolic flight on NASA's "vomit comet."

I am a bio-medical engineering student with a minor in mathematics at Arizona State University. I absolutely love science and mathematics and look for any opportunity to help others to understand why these subjects fascinate me. I am currently in my senior year at ASU; I have a 3.96 GPA, and I am married with two young boys. For the past two years I have been working for the University Academic Success Program at ASU helping students excel in math, physics, and chemistry. Those I tutor come from a diverse background and often require assistance with advanced topics within the aforementioned subjects. Prior to starting my academic path, I spent 8 years in the Army. Half of my military career was spent as an air defense coordinator, and the other half as a respiratory therapist. I have a very broad set of skills and life lessons that I fall back on when I tutor. In my youth I was disinterested in education, and I joined the military when I was 19 because my grades did not leave me with many other options. The Army gave me the opportunity to rethink how I look at the world. I want students, especially young students struggling to find meaning in what they are doing in school, to grasp the impact that education can have in their lives if they embrace it.

I graduated from Northern Arizona University with Bachelor's Degrees in Physics and Astronomy. Mathematics is an important part of both fields and my strong suit. Consequently, I have a minor in Mathematics that I have applied to my work on endless occasions. My math background encompasses basic subjects like algebra, geometry, and calculus up through advanced subjects such as linear algebra, multivariable calculus, differential equations, and advanced geometry. During my senior year I received a NASA Space Grant and began research with the U.S. Geological Survey Astrogeology Research Center in Flagstaff, AZ. This project eventually became my Master's Thesis.I graduated a second time from Northern Arizona University with a Master's Degree in Applied Physics. My research emphasis was planetary science, which allowed me to become very involved with the U.S.G.S. My planetary studies required me to not only focus on the physics of planets, but also on their geology. As such, I have a broad range of academic backgrounds, including astronomy, astrobiology, field geology, and geomorphology. I've even assisted in research at the Sudbury Impact Structure in Ontario, Canada and attended numerous scientific conferences.During my graduate studies I taught three different lab courses: Mechanics, Electricity and Magnetism, and Life in the Universe. These were intended for non-physics-major students, so I have had extensive practice in bringing even the most advanced concepts down to a level that any student can understand. The lab courses were also relatively small (between 10 and 20 students). The small class sizes allowed me to learn to teach with hands-on methods as well as lecture-style methods, many times in a one-on-one setting.I love to teach, plain and simple. To witness a student truly understand a concept is very rewarding for both the student and the teacher. They say knowledge is power. Then to understand the universe (even just a small fraction of it) is power, indeed. SCIENCE!!!

Education is the key to a successful future and opens the door to many of life's opportunities. You've made the first major step by ensuring that your child gets the best enrichment and remediation to put them ahead of the curve. I am a graduate, with Honors, from Norfolk State University with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. I received my Master of Science through the University of the District of Columbia and Georgetown University's Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center in Cancer Biology, Prevention and Control. I have a Doctor of Philosophy in Molecular Medicine from the University of Maryland School of Medicine. In the span of my education, I have had the opportunity to complete research internships at Yale University, The Ohio State University and the National Institute of Health, as well as be awarded two research Fellowships. I have an enormous passion for Biology, Chemistry, Math and History. As a tutor, I have helped many students at the K-12 and undergraduate levels, and take the most pride in seeing my students improve their grades and begin to appreciate the subject. It is important to me that I not only help to enrich my students in the subject area but to also provide an atmosphere where they become confident, independent learners and can apply that throughout the course of their education. In my spare time, you can find me in the laboratory working on my thesis, working out, finding new restaurants to try (I'm a major foodie), and at the beach in the warmer months.

I am a graduate of both Florida Institute of Technology with a Bachelor of Science in Physics and Boston University with a Master of Science in Physics.During my time as a graduate student at Boston University I worked in both classroom environments and one-on-one with physics students, as well as in the classroom with the Graduate STEM Fellows in K-12 Education (GK-12) program. As a BU Teaching Fellow I was responsible for leading discussion groups, working with students individually during office hours, and as a GK-12 fellow I spent a semester teaching with a high school physics teacher in the classroom.Because my physics background entails studying a wide variety of math backgrounds I am qualified to tutor most subjects in both math and science. I most enjoy teaching calculus and physics because I find it beautiful how well they integrate with and play off of each other. Calculus is the language that describes physics, and a large part of physics is calculus applied to the world.I like to begin engaging with students by seeing what stumbling blocks they are facing educationally and then finding ways to communicate and work through these ideas and processes. I think that understanding subjects like math and science can help you open up new pathways of understanding in the world, as well as improving critical thinking and problem solving. In my spare time I like to go cycling, rock climbing, and play billiards. All three of these activities I use as avenues to find and deepen my own focus. The bicycle is a device that is meant to make life easier, but allows the rider to make the experience as physically challenging as possible. I find that both rock climbing and billiards are a wonderful mixture of accuracy, finesse, strategic thinking and creative problem solving.

I graduated from Emory University,in Atlanta, Ga. I have an Associate of Arts , and a Bachelors of Arts, with a major in Educational Studies. I am a certified teacher, and have been teaching/ tutoring for the last six years. I tutor a variety of subjects including Elementary Math, Life Sciences, Physical Science, Essay Editing, Grammar and Mechanics, Literature, Phonics, Reading, Writing, Study Skills and Organization. I most enjoy tutoring math, phonics, and reading. I struggled in primary school with math and it gives me great joy to help eliminate that struggle in others. I believe the most important skill in learning is to figure out how a student learns. Not all students learn in the same way, learning how an individual learns is key to successful acquisition of knowledge. I enjoy reading, scrap-booking, camping, football, and spending time with my family.

Hello! My name is Louis, and I love to share facts that I think are neat with anybody who will listen. Since I think physics and astronomy are amazing, I love sharing my knowledge and passion for those subjects especially, and that's why I became a teacher. My passion for the subject shows when I'm teaching, and I love watching students eyes light up as they begin to understand the subject better under my tutelage. Students will be able to develop self confidence in the subjects I tutor through my positive reinforcement. My goal is for every student to have a better understanding of the subject, and through that, a better understanding of how the world around them works. Thanks for reading!-Louis

I'm a rising sophomore at Georgetown University studying Mathematics with minors in Physics and Economics. I'm also pre-med and hope to be an orthopedic surgeon someday. While I originally hail from Cape Cod, MA, I will be spending most of my summer in Boston taking Organic Chemistry at Harvard. Outside of the classroom, I'm a part of Georgetown's club rugby team and also participate in GUMSHOE, a club that teaches math and science to inner city students. I also enjoy going for runs to the monuments in DC and playing in pickup soccer games! For me, I especially enjoy tutoring mathematics because I think it serves as a foundation for a number of other subjects and also enhances problem solving ability. I'd like to see those I tutor consider studying mathematics in college just like me.
