I recently graduated from Tufts University, and I am currently applying to medical school and working at Columbia Medical Center. I specialize in tutoring for geometry, algebra, high school sciences, the SAT, and the MCAT. I am also an excellent writer and could tutor writing at almost any level. I am personable, I love teaching, and I am very adept at making complicated concepts accessible to students of all backgrounds and levels. I was born and raised in China. In 2000, I came to United States with my husband to pursue my master degree in Nutritional Science in University of Oklahoma Health Science Center. I have two girls both born in US. I have been teaching them Chinese language and culture. Five years ago I started teaching Chinese in our city Chinese School. I am very passionate about teaching the Chinese culture and language to the younger generation in US. By knowing more Chinese culture, learning Chinese could be more interesting and useful.Depending on the different students with different goals, I will use different teaching technique to fit your needs. From listening, speaking, to reading and writing, learning Mandarin Chinese should be step by step and also should be fun. Hello! I am a rising 1L at the University of Chicago Law School with a background tutoring students from 5th grade through undergrad. As an undergraduate, I attended Wesleyan University where I studied religious studies, philosophy, European history, and theoretical economics. While there, I won honors for my writing and research.For students interested in improving their writing, I work with all age groups to cultivate an ear for rhythm, an eye for detail, a mind for research--and a stomach for revision, revision, revision.For the LSAT, we will come up with a plan for preparing that is customized to your schedule and goals. This plan will likely include daily drilling with real LSAT problems, supplemented by book reading and practice tests. During our sessions that target logical reasoning sections, we will focus on argument structure. We will work on identifying conclusions, premises, and assumptions in arguments, as well as how to use these skills to answer necessary and sufficient assumption questions. For analytical reasoning (logic games), we will break down the three most common types of games and focus on maintaining accuracy while building solving speed. Finally, for reading comprehension, we will work together to come up with an approach that emphasizes your strengths (like reading quickly, remembering details, annotating effectively) to move towards a higher score.I am looking forward to meeting you!

I am a senior college student at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, majoring in Philosophy with a minor in Politics, Philosophy, and Economics. I have experience working with elementary and middle school students, but am also prepared to tutor students at the high school level. I am proficient in writing, reading skills, composition, IB Extended Essay and Theory of Knowledge tutoring, as well as philosophy and psychology. My favorite area of tutoring is, naturally, philosophy, given the analytical and logically focused virtue of that domain, though writing and reading skills are inherently tied to its practice, and I therefore also favor working with students in these areas. My main goal with students is to endow them with the skills necessary to excel in their chosen fields without the fears of lack of preparation or unfamiliarity with the given subject. I typically begin with a diagnostic overview of the students capabilities, and once their abilities have been assessed, continued with a targeted approach to augment their deficiencies and highlight their individual skills. Beyond academia, I love studying and playing Chess, Tennis, and Skiing, schedule permitting!

I'm a recent graduate from Vanderbilt University, where I obtained my Masters of Education in Learning and Design, and a Bachelors degree from Southwestern University in Education and English.As a young student I found tutors to be immensely helpful in achieving success, so I know how important finding the right fit can be. I have experience tutoring, teaching, and mentoring students from ages 13 and up- though most of my recent experience is with college students.My favorite subjects to tutor are English and History, because I believe those are subjects where it's easy to help students find themselves within the subject matter. My teaching philosophy can be summed up as meeting students where they are at: to me, the key to student success lies in connection. Connection to instructors, to the content material, and to their own identities.

I have three years of tutoring under my belt; I tutored high school students as a National Honors Society member and prepared juniors to take the SAT. I can assist students in algebra, reading comprehension, environmental science, improving writing skills and editing essays. Personally, I've studied for and taken multiple AP exams and the ACT so I can give advice and and aid in preparation for other to do so.
