I graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a degree in Biology and English. Since then I have worked in various capacities in education, both on the curriculum development side and in formal classroom teaching. I worked as a lab instructor for Genetics and Evolution courses in Duke University's Department of Biology, and developed and taught science programs for the Duke University Center for Science Education. I also spent a year and a half teaching English conversation and writing to high school students in Japan. I have a passion for science education and am currently working to understand and improve the way science is taught in American schools. I place a high value on education and believe that in order to get the most out of it, students should be challenged and take full advantage of all of their educational resources. It's very rewarding to see a students succeed and reach their goals through hard work. I most enjoy teaching life sciences and writing, but I have a diverse background in many areas. In my spare time, I enjoy running, reading novels, baking (and eating) bread, and spending time with friends over coffee.

I like literature and performing arts most in life. I tend to incorporate both into classes to blend into textbook work. If you're looking for a more creative approach to language, that's what I provide. I have plenty of books and media that I've used myself to further my own studies.

I am a recent graduate of the University of Missouri Saint Louis (UMSL). I obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Modern Languages with a focus in Japanese. I tutor Japanese and I have a passion for learning and teaching about Japan. I believe that learning a new language opens up a new world to students. Language learning can provide an inexhaustible source of entertainment as the student can be more readily exposed to great art and literature from another country. In my free time I enjoy target archery, hiking, camping, and horseback riding.

I'm a graduate of Macalester College, class of 2008, with BAs in Japanese and linguistics. While languages and language itself are my first love, I enjoy working in a variety of other subjects as well.As a student and a teacher, I prefer working from the fundamentals to memorizing facts; I feel that understanding how and why something works is a more interesting and effective method, and helps nurture critical thinking, an essential life skill.I look forward to helping students work towards reaching their full potential. I'm a recent graduate from Boston University with a BA in Japanese Language and Literature. I have tutored in the past, and my most recent experience was as an English tutor for a Japanese researcher. I have a fondness for foreign languages, and offer tutoring services for Japanese, as it is a language that is nigh impossible to master alone. As someone who has learned foreign languages through self-study and under the guidance of teachers, I recognize the importance of having access to fluent speakers. I want to enrich your Japanese learning experience and be a person that you come to for help, guidance, and understanding.
