Academics can be a tricky area to navigate, and with a little bit of help I think people will be shocked at what they can accomplish!I am a Communications Major with a penchant for reading, writing, some math, and film! (I picked up a Cinema Studies Minor as well) I used to be an editor in a few newspapers, so I love working with others to improve their writing skills. I have tutored many areas in both high school and college and have coached softball to girls of many ages. I especially love helping students master their test-taking skills, because I understand what it was like having to navigate such a high pressure environment! Providing just a few tools can make a world of difference.

Between trips abroad and completing coursework at Teachers College, Columbia University, I had the pleasure of tutoring students from my very own high school on Long Island and neighboring schools in town. After having received an MA in English education, I have relocated to Manhattan and I am eager to continue helping students achieve their academic goals. In particular, I specialize in tutoring all areas of the SAT and ACT, and any type of writing. Of course, whenever I work with students I aim to equip them with the skills I used in developing my mastery of the the material we are studying and the skills I would use to find the best answer choice or to get the sentence, paragraph and essay as a whole just right!

I've been a Varsity Tutors tutor since June 2022. I also taught large classes through high school, with experience teaching science and English. Through an organization called the North South Foundation, which provides scholarships to underprivileged children in India, I taught basic science subjects such as chemistry, earth science, physics, and more. I taught English classes to students in India who had little to no English exposure through another nonprofit organization called PURE, which works to ensure underprivileged children can attain their education. Throughout my teaching and tutoring experiences, I have always worked to be approachable and welcoming to my students, because I believe asking questions can often times be the most effective way of learning. Generating and asking questions can give students a different method of approaching problems that they face, and I try to make sure I can be there for students to have any questions they have answered. Outside of school, I enjoy playing basketball and soccer with friends and working out.

I've taught corporate executives practical Chinese at the business level, led classes at a Chinese language institute, and worked with students one on one.Thanks to my management and business experience in corporate America and my many years of strict training to be a reciter when I was at school in Beijing, I am better able to help my students communicate and succeed in using Chinese for their needs..In my own experience, learning to speak another language is not just about mimicking the sentence flow and pronunciation, but also understanding the culture behind the language.I want my students to enjoy the learning process wherever they are and take pride in the fact that they're not just learning new words, but also learning the wisdom, philosophies, and history behind them.When you communicate with someone using their language, it's a form of love. It means you went the extra mile to meet that person where they are; it means that you care about them and want to understand them on a deeper level.
