I am very happy with our experience so far with Varsity Tutors. They matched my daughter with reading specialist Mary and she is wonderful! My 10 year old daughter feels happy after her sessions and believes her tutor has already helped her.

Certified Tutor

As the child of educators and a member of a big family, learning new things and then passing down that knowledge has been a way of life for me. My older siblings would teach me new concepts and I'd share concepts I'd mastered with my younger siblings (all under the "professional supervision" of our parents of course).

I began working with peers when I was 13 and continued throughout high school. My "professional" tutoring career began in college at NYU. I was an America Reads/America Counts tutor working directly with students and their homeroom teachers to identify and rectify learning issues before they seriously impacted a students progress.

After college I worked as a personal math and English tutor for the Department of Education. My students ranged in age from 8-19, I specialized in SAT English prep. Most recently I was a Computer Instructor/Multi-media Instructor for the Madison Square Boys and Girls Club. There I instructed ages 6-18 in basic computer literacy and helped them produce work for the national Boys and Girls Club Digital Arts Festival. We created short films, clay animation, music, and digital collage that won 5 first place national awards. It remains one of the most rewarding experiences I have had to date.

My motto when it comes to learning is: There are no stupid questions! I look forward to embarking on this learning odyssey with you!
