I am a graduate of Laguna College of Art and Design (formerly Art Institute of Southern California). I received my Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Design and Illustration in 1996. The early 90's was the wild west of desktop publishing, and we as students were literally discovering the power of applications like Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator, side-by-side, with our instructors. Each day, we were learning from them. And they were learning from us. This is a philosophy I have always applied in my career... you are never too seasoned, or too experienced, to learn something new.After graduation, I accepted an opportunity with my employer to join a team in our Central California HQ, working to design and test the UI for a replacement Point-of-Sale system. This allowed me to eventually segue into a permanent role traveling across the country, supporting the hardware and software roll-out, and training our associates on the new system. This is when I developed my passion for travel.In 1999, I "went online" for the first time, and discovered that the same design applications I'd studied in art school were now the graphic building blocks of the Internet. I was immediately hooked. Within a couple of weeks, I was building my first website, "Next Stop, Aptos Station!", showcasing my love of railroading history.Over the next couple of years, I honed my skills in HTML and JavaScript. Those two programming languages, and eventually CSS, would serve me for the next 10 years of my career as a Web Designer and Developer. And eventually opened the door to more than a decade as a Salesforce.com Administrator.In 2018, I was able to shift gears and start traveling the U.S. with my wife and dog, in our camper van. I continue to work as a Salesforce Administrator, as a remote worker, from where ever we happen to be this month. I continue to enjoy my two aquatic passions, surfing and bodysurfing, and also manage to hit a few skateboard parks along the way.Through hard work, and smart choices, I have been blessed with a range of career opportunities, and life experiences, and I hope to impart this to my students.

I have spoken to audiences as large as 3,000 on a regular basis throughout my professional career.I have tutored at the university level. The key is allowing the student to gain an understanding of the imagery of the material in a way that is comfortable to them.I am an AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner with the knowledge and skills to help you with you begin your cloud computing journey.I am a soldier who understands the discipline required to master a subject. As a first generation college student, I have broken the glass ceiling for women in my family many times. I love empowering people educationally and aspire to be a coach to women nationwide.

While I originally thought my career would be in IT, I spent much of the following months doing work for Lone Star's disabilities office for students, and later tutoring work. Teaching is something I have a passion for but was encouraged away from initially, so it's been very exciting to be able to tutor on a larger scale like this. I believe teaching is about growing an understanding of subjects and sharpening one's intellect and critical thinking, not just memorization, and I also believe that everyone has a different learning style, and so teaching one-on-one needs to be specialized and flexible. While I can confidently tutor most subjects outside of math, I particularly enjoy English and writing subjects due to the amazing things one can do with words, and I also love History and Science subjects, purely for how fascinating they are. In my spare time I involve myself a lot with computers and coding, as well as plants and cooking, but when I need to calm down nothing beats reading a book with my cat.

I am an easy going tutor and have a light and "fluffy" approach to instruction. I remember the stress and anxiety of being in the classroom, so it is important for me to create an environment that the student will feel safe in. I graduated with a degree in Art, focusing on art history, and a degree in Arts and Technology, focusing on video game design and story telling. I worked in the mechanical engineering, video game, and education technology fields while working on technology such as 3D printing, virtual reality, and interactive educational software. For the last 8 years I helped students complete homework and prepare for tests so they could move to the next grade level or graduate high school. I also led a team to see how we could integrate virtual and augmented reality into the classroom for a more immersive and distraction free environment while helping students with learning disabilities and anxiety.
