Immunology studies the interaction between our immune systems and foreign macromolecules or invading organisms and our responses to them. It is a branch of biomedical science. Invading organisms include viruses, bacteria, protozoa, and larger parasites. The field includes several types of immune system studies, such as classical, clinical, developmental, and cancer immunology, among others. At the graduate level, immunology classes range from principles of biological technologies to fundamentals of RNA biology. The curriculum requires rigorous and in-depth study, which can be complemented by tutoring. Recent Immunology Tutoring Session Notes
The student definitely seems to have made important improvements in her writing, especially in maintaining a coherent narrative thread and logical flow. If she practices enough to become comfortable with the 25-minute time limit, she is in a strong position to score higher than her first effort. Her performance in the writing multiple choice section today was commendable.
The student has a written portion of his final tomorrow - We wrote down the main ideas of the beginning, middle and end of the story in English, then worked on a rough draft of the summary in Spanish. I left him with tips on what verb tense to think in, cohesive paragraph structure, and reminder to work in the vocabulary his teacher will look for. We will meet over the weekend to review for his final exam.
We covered several conceptual questions in chapter 10. We also meticulously worked through the half-reaction method. He seems to be getting the material. I think he is progressing nicely. We will meet one more time before his final on Wednesday.
We went over the basics of force, centripetal motion, waves, optics, and conservation of energy with him, consulting a study guide and working on practice problems as necessary. His final will be multiple choice, and he had a decent working knowledge of certain concepts. I assigned him the leftover problems in the study guide and emphasized comfort and understanding of the equations above everything else, as I think this is the quickest way to improve physics test performance.
I managed to have the student sit down and work with me for a majority of the session. I am starting to get him to sound out the word and draw the letters, which is a great improvement. We are getting him into first grade work, and I am very happy that he is willing to work with me on those problems. Writing words is a big step in a positive direction.
