Perth French 1 Tutoring FAQ
A first language class can be quite enjoyable, but also quite demanding if you are just beginning your language studies. During the first year of French studies, you acquire a basic vocabulary that will help set the foundation for your continued education in conversational use of the French language. Although many of the exercises and assignments for this course may seem simple, they help you to build the important initial foundations for being able to hear and interpret the language in its natural use. Such skills will be presupposed in coming years of study in which conversations and grammar will become far more difficult and complex. Therefore, it is critical that you perform as well as possible in the first year of your French studies. What better way to work towards such success than by finding a knowledgeable personal French 1 tutor to help you master the skills of hearing and speaking French words and sentences?
Contact Varsity Tutors for assistance connecting with an experienced French 1 tutor to help meet your particular needs. Language tutors are able guides through the many joys and difficulties of language acquisition. By giving you personal attention, a French tutor can provide the one-on-one interaction that can best help you with the acquisition and strengthening of linguistic skills. While your classroom instructor can provide the basics of vocabulary and phraseology, these skills need continual practice in order to be retained. Such practice cannot happen in a silent vacuum, for linguistic skills develop between speakers, not alone in a mere monologue.
Personal French 1 tutoring can provide just such a spoken environment to help exercise, correct, and encourage your budding Francophone capacities. In addition, a personal tutor can help with the early grammar acquisition that occurs in French 1, helping you gain the skills that you need to meet with success in later French courses, which increasingly focus on the difficult aspects of French grammar. The French language remains an important tongue for international travel as well as advanced research in college and graduate school.
While textbooks showcase vocabulary, spelling, and grammar in great detail, it is nearly impossible to master a language in solitude. The best way is to learn from either a native speaker or someone who has learned to speak the language fluently. Your tutor is here just for that, and can analyze your learning style and personality to adapt their own instruction based on your needs. In the beginning, you will get to know one another, which includes discussions and possible assessments based on proven methodologies. Later on this will help to establish a series of personalized lessons so your French 1 tutor can help you learn all the necessary aspects of the language to move forward.
Lessons can be fine tuned along the way, but it is the scheduling flexibility that is most beneficial, other than the ability to learn from a French expert and have someone to converse with. Your instructor can meet whenever is most convenient for you -- around classes, work, and a host of activity and family obligations. The Varsity Tutors live learning platform allows you to meet with a private tutor either in person or face-to-face online. This gives you the flexibility to meet with your tutor at the time and location of your choice. Whatever the case, you never have to leave your French 1 progress unchecked. Expert help is available to ensure you meet your academic and personal goals so you'll achieve true communicative mastery.
By working with an experienced tutor today, you can help prepare yourself to retain and exercise these important linguistic skills in the years to come. Contact Varsity Tutors today to connect with a French 1 tutoring professional available in your area!

Recent Perth French 1 Tutoring Session Notes
We continued progress through the student's book. This time we added more vocabulary, including the nouns and adjectives associated with describing people. We also talked about definite and indefinite articles, and the idea of gendered nouns. I was pleased to see that she has been doing review on her own, and gave her some tips for how to practice speaking/listening.
Worked on reviewing verbs, learning new feelings, writing and conversation. Working with his flashcards is really helping him to retain vocab. His confidence in speaking and vocab is also growing. He should continue flashcard review (especially verbs).
I taught some French pronunciation and introduced the student to the francophone world by showing her all the countries where French is spoken. The student did well even though she is a special education student with an IEP in middle school and her difficulty is in the subject of English. She has been exempted from foreign languages study, but she is getting a head start in French with me before she starts French Level 1 in 7th grade next year. The student is going to really try hard to pass French Level 1 next year. I asked her to look up the capitols of the francophone countries and the European countries we studied where French is not spoken. I left her with a website where she can use the 30 day free trial to practice elementary French with games online. No concerns at all.
The student reinforced his use of greetings, introducing his family (he constructed a great and very creative family tree), the alphabet, possessive pronouns and pronunciation. Today he showed progress in pronunciation, comprehension and grasp of key phrases.
During this session, the student shared his homework on special uses of the definite article with me. He understands the topic with little prompting, though he will need to continue to practice this specific skill.
After reviewing the homework, we moved back to work on verbs, which we set aside for a short time to work on nouns, articles, and adjective agreement. The student can accurately conjugate basic -er verbs and demonstrates understanding of conjugation in general. Today we worked on special spellings of -er verbs, such as verbs ending in -ger and -cer, and verbs with "e"s with accents. For homework, the student will practice these skills in the Schaum's grammar book.
We covered conjugating -er verbs and 13 verbs using the same forms. We looked over the workbook using these forms. I asked her to study the verbs and the conjugation pattern of these verbs. She worked hard at learning the patterns and the pronunciations.
