I am a University of South Florida graduate with a degree in English and I love reading, writing and all things literature. I have a passion for words, their variety of meanings and even their histories and origins. Reading and writing are the key building blocks to success, whether it be academic, vocational or personal, those two skills continue to build throughout life; the better a person wields them the greater success that person experiences.As a former secondary English and Reading teacher and I am excited to help students grow and excel in the arts of reading and writing.

I studied at the University of Texas at Austin, where I received degrees in Plan II Honors, Neurolinguistics, English and Pre-Med, as well as minors in Chemistry and Biological Sciences. I have tutored professionally for seven years, teaching students from a kindergarten level, all the way up to a graduate student level. I have a strong base in all subjects, but I especially enjoy language tutoring, because I am multilingual. I love teaching Mathematics, Sciences, English, History, Writing...you name it. My philosophy is that the most effective teaching comes from knowing how my student learns, and meeting them where they are. As a recently retired educator of the Clark County School District and teacher overseas, I still have a passion for teaching and helping the next generation of students achieve and strive to reach their own personal limits. My experience as an AmeriCorps VISTA has given me the opportunity to create and coordinate programs for youth and community members on a citywide level in Orlando and New Orleans. These programs are still operational today, and achieving their goals of boosting educational attainment and reducing crime.I have helped adults who speak English, but dont know the alphabet. I have helped others get their GED and study for college Algebra finals. I have helped students learn to understand, speak, read, and write in English better, so they can improve their performance in school, on the job, gain citizenship, and make new friends. I work with youth to develop study strategies that will help them be successful in school and in life.
