I have been teaching over seven years high school and middle school students and always encourage my students to take anactive role in their learning.I enjoy reading, sports, and spending time with my family. I am very active in school as a Class Advisor, National Honor Society Advisor, and Community Service Coordinator. Hi! I am McKayla Muse and I am currently a student at UCO. My major is biomedical sciences and I am working on a minor in French. I really enjoy learning about each of these subjects, and I would love to help anyone having trouble in any of these subjects!

After graduating from the University of Vermont last June with a B.A. in History (concentration in European) and English, I looked forward to any opportunities that would allow me to utilize my passion for these subjects in combination with my love of connecting with others. Thus, after number of years spent experimenting with part-time positions, including volunteer work for multiple non-profits, being a trip leader for international students, multiple restaurant jobs, interning for the Bernie Sanders Campaign, working as a jack-o-lantern artist and live pumpkin carver, I naturally began my foray into tutoring!My teaching style, developed over time from my experience back in high school as a tutor as well as my recent work as a tutor for a private company, is relaxed, empathetic, encouraging and personable. I truly believe there is something valuable and exciting to be found within even the most "boring" of academic subjects. I see this as incredibly important to emphasize to my students, who may often see their school subjects as uninteresting or irrelevant to their lives. My goal is to help generate within my students a genuine excitement and even passion for what they're learning, through lesson plans that are organized, concise, thorough and tailored to each individual's needs.Most of my tutoring experience has been helping early high-school students in European, American and Global History, specifically Regents subjects. My most recent lessons, for example centered around the Age of Jackson, Ancient China and Ancient Greece. In addition, I do have some tutoring experience when it comes to essay preparation, editing and writing. I was a copy-editor for my college newspaper, The Cynic, and am currently a volunteer writer/editor for a non-profit, IMM Print, which seeks to humanize immigrants within the United States' detention system, so I'm very comfortable with knowing how to produce an effective, readable and interesting piece of writing.In my spare time, I love to hike, be outdoors, run, play guitar, listen to music, watch documentaries, bake yummy treats, hang out with my cat and do art (I have a minor in Studio Art, as well!). Another great passion of mine is traveling - I spent a semester abroad in Copenhagen, Denmark, and have traveled extensively around Europe and the United States.

I am a graduate of Arcadia University. I received my Bachelor of Arts in Biology in the Spring of 2021. In the fall of 2021, I am beginning my Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Arcadia as well. I have worked with kids in academic, athletic, and summer camp settings my entire life. I am very passionate about tutoring students in Biology, Anatomy and Physiology, and English and Essay Writing. I have only tutored for a very brief time in my life, but I have the experience in rigorous coursework and the empathy to help students obtain their short-term and long-term goals. Education is my most important value. I feel as if I have the knowledge and experience to help students reach their potential and help them with their struggles. In my free time, I enjoy sports, yoga, and spending time outside with friends and family.

Math, sciences and language arts are important both for professional success and living a meaningful and fulfilling life. They are tools with which we can understand our true selves and the world around us. Therefore, helping students grasp the multitude of concepts in these disciplines is a way helping them manifest their potential, and that is a worthwhile endeavor.Prior to joining Varsity Tutors, I served as a tutor for classmates in high school. For the last for four years I have also mentored middle school students through weekly meetings aimed at improving their reading skills and powers of expression. I also help my middle school sister with math homework.I obtained my Bachelor of Science in Earth and Environmental Engineering at Columbia University and am currently working toward my Masters of Business Administration at the University of Southern California.Outside of the classroom I am passionate about driving social chance through business and community development.

I'm a lifelong music lover and have been playing guitar and singing for 15 years, including in several bands. I also have several years of experience with audio engineering and playing other rock related instruments consisting of drum kit, bass guitar, and keyboards. I'm excited to share my passion for music and knowledge of it with others through lessons.

I am a graduate of The University of Delaware. I received my Honors Bachelor of Science in Education in Elementary Teacher Education with a concentration in Middle School Mathematics. Currently, I am working towards a Master of Education Degree in Leadership, Design and Technology from Pennsylvania State University. Since graduation, I have worked in a variety of mathematics teaching positions including as a Math Intervention Assistant Teacher, a High School Mathematics Teacher, and a Middle School Mathematics Teacher. I am a firm proponent of technology integrated, student-centered education, believing it to be necessary to stay up with 21st-century skills. I meet students where they are currently at, not where they necessarily ought to be through technology applications. In my spare time, I enjoy working on my house, reading, and spending time with family including my golden retriever, Callie.
