From these negative experiences, a part of me has grown to want to help others because I never want anyone to feel as I did. I graduated from Texas State in San Marcos and I have traveled extensively, including a summer teaching in China. While I tutor a broad range of subjects, I am most passionate about Language Arts Writing, and Critical Thinking. In my experience in helping struggling students prepare for Standardized Tests, I see a lot of progress in all subjects when I weave in games with skills practice. I am a big proponent of individualized lesson plans that focus on the child's strengths, interests, and areas that need improvement. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, yoga, walking trails, and the fun, free events in Austin.

I am a graduate of the University of Virginia where I received a BA in History. While in college, I spent time tutoring local elementary school children in math and reading. Additionally, I worked for the university helping student athletes craft and edit papers for history and political science courses. After graduation, I completed a two year post-baccalaureate program in the pre-medical sciences (Bio, Orgo, Gen Chem, Physics). During this program, I continued tutoring students in subjects as diverse as writing, biology, and physics. I also started privately tutoring for the verbal section of the SAT at this time. I love trying to make challenging material more interesting and comprehensible. Any subject can be understood if the material is presented in a manner that a student finds relatable. After my first year of medical school, I spent the summer working as a Gross Anatomy teacher for PA and PT students. This was hands down my favorite job and I became very invested in my students success, often staying far later than required to ensure my students were confident with the material. In addition to teaching, I act as a motivational coach for my students. I am their biggest supporter and will do my very best to help them achieve success. In my spare time, I enjoy playing basketball, lifting weights, reading books and magazine articles, and watching movies.

Having an inspiration to further my education, I obtained my master's degree in curriculum and instruction and my educational doctorate in educational leadership.I have always loved working with and helping others in math and athletics. I have been in the educational field for over three decades and still have that same burning desire to assist others in the area of mathematics. I have a strong passionate for numbers and apply it in my teaching of young students today despite the pandemic that have limited some and prolonged others to achieve their goals. I'm a doctoral student in the African American Studies Department at Northwestern University. My disciplinary focus includes English/Literature, Political Theory, and Media Studies. I love to study film, history, literature, and other adaptive strategies for sharing our stories. But I especially love helping my students and peers to explore their interests, generate ideas for research, and pursue them with the necessary tools and guidance that I hope to provide.I received my BA (with honors) from Dartmouth College in 2016. Though I arrived to Dartmouth as an environmental engineer (I still love math!), my interests in community development and historical research methods prompted my present trajectory. I love teaching and mentoring, and believe with the right attention, interest, and adaptable teaching strategies, students can learn and grow beyond the conventional classroom setting.
