How can Chemistry tutoring help you?

Chemistry is an interesting subject because it allows you to examine why and how substances separate or combine with each other to form different substances. It is also a highly useful subject for anyone who wants a career in the sciences. In order to begin a career in the field of science, you may most likely be required to take and pass at least one chemistry course. It is of particular importance if you are interested in medicine, nursing, or pharmaceuticals. Chemistry is undoubtedly useful, but is also one of the most challenging science courses because of its reliance on math. Topics such as energy, molecules, elements, and basicity may cause all sorts of difficulties for those who are not mathematically inclined. You may probably be required to memorize at least part of the periodic table as well. One of the most effective ways to try to help you have a successful experience in chemistry is to work with a private chemistry tutor. Varsity Tutors' educational directors may connect you with a chemistry tutor in Salt Lake City, UT, after considering all of your specific goals and needs.

Whether your goal is to prepare for the Student Assessment of Growth and Excellence (SAGE), pass your chemistry course, prepare for a career in chemistry, or prepare for a career in a different science, your private chemistry tutor may help you work to reach it. Chemistry Tutoring review by Benjamin in Salt Lake City, UT
We went over solutions, which is the topic her class is next going to cover. She worked some problems covering molarity and molality. She is doing very well. She now has an A in her chemistry class. We then reviewed her algebra homework which covered finding the vertical asymptotes of equations.

Chemistry Tutoring review by Anette in Salt Lake City, UT
The student and I continued covering stoichiometry and molar relationships. We spent most of the class working through problems and getting her ready for her upcoming exam. She has a very good grasp of the concepts, but I encouraged her to keep practicing.

Chemistry Tutoring review by John in Salt Lake City, UT
The student and I covered Lewis structures and VSEPR theory. I explained to him the concept of valence electrons and how to determine the number of valence electrons in an element. From this, the formal charge of each atom can be determined. I also talked to the student about resonance structures - the different ways that a Lewis structure of the same molecule can be drawn and still valid. In discussing VSEPR, I brought up how the hybridization of the central atom of a molecule or ion determines the electronic geometry as well as the molecular geometry. These are not always the same, if there are lone pairs on the central atom. In learning about VSEPR, he also learned that several atoms in the 3rd row or lower can "violate" the octet rule and have more than 8 electrons around them. I told him after the day's session to extensively review VSEPR theory to practice on drawing more complex structures and understanding the bond angles in three dimensional molecules.

Chemistry Tutoring review by Connor in Salt Lake City, UT
In this session, we continued on with gas chemistry in preparation for an upcoming quiz. The student understood how to do most of the quantitative questions, but he wanted to hear my explanation of the relevant concepts again. He is a great client because he is genuinely interested in excelling in chemistry, and thus remains continually focused throughout our meetings. For quantitative questions, I reiterated the strategy of writing down all given information before deciding on a formula. For qualitative questions, I stressed the strategy of visualizing a balloon in order to deduce the relationship between variables like pressure, volume, and temperature. He had a few other uncompleted practice questions, so I suggested that he finish these in order to gain some extra confidence with regards to the section. He has gotten As on all classwork, quizzes, and tests since beginning with me, so I think that he's progressed as well as possible.
