Kelley
Certified Tutor
I am a graduate of Minneapolis College of Art and Design's Master of Fine Arts program. I have worked as an educator for over 20 years, including 17 years at the Science Museum of Minnesota leading STEM education programs for K-12 learners. My specialty is in computer science and technology, but I am versed in all STEM fields. I also have worked as a teaching artist with COMPAS since 2012 working with audiences from grade school through college as well as adult learners in writing, hands-on technology and engineering, creative thinking and problem solving, and coding. Further, I worked as an historical interpreter for the Minnesota Historical Society for several years and have an extensive understanding of US History and, specifically, Minnesota history. Early on in my career, I worked in youth and young adult library services, where I helped everyone from struggling to seasoned readers value Literacy and Reading. I also was a Homework Helper at libraries in Missouri and Minnesota while pursing my graduate work, and I am glad to come back to working one-on-one as a tutor. My diverse teaching and education experiences make me a valuable tutor in a variety of fields, and I am excited to help scholars of all ages progress towards their individualized learning goals. As an educator, I have honed my ability to make learning experiences that are engaging and accessible to all learners. I bring these unique skills to my one-on-one tutoring experiences where I help tutors in a variety of subjects and grade/skill levels. I have received specialized training in working with neurodiverse students, including learners with autism and ADHD, through the Autism Society of Minnesota (AusM) and Children and Adults with Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (CHADD). Additionally, I have worked with students at the Minnesota State Academy for the Blind and the Minnesota State Academy for the Deaf and am comfortable adapting to students with limited mobility, energy-limiting illnesses, and/or multiple/complex disabilities.
