I recently graduated from UW- Eau Claire with a degree in Biochemistry/ Molecular Biology and a minor in Economics. At UW-Eau Claire, I worked as a tutor for two years. I tutored various courses in the fields of Chemistry, Biology, and Economics. I found it very rewarding to help these students reach their academic goals and wish to continue in this tradition. My teaching philosophy is to help students establish the foundation and the confidence necessary to become self sufficient as students. Since graduating from UWEC, I have moved to the Minneapolis area and am enjoying myself out here so far. I have aspirations of going to medical school and hope to start in the fall of 2016.In my free time I enjoy training for strongman and Olympic weightlifting competitions. My next competition is a Strongman competition held in Minneapolis in late September. Last year in this competition I placed 4th overall, taking first place in both the keg toss and the atlas stone events. I hope to do even better this year. Wish me luck!

I aim to cultivate strong interests in learning the Spanish language because of all the opportunities and life lessons it brings to a student's life. I have been fluent in Spanish since elementary school through my enrollment in a Spanish immersion program, and have never taken a break from learning Spanish! I have experience tutoring college students from beginners just starting out to 4th years who have already mastered the language. I have spent 5 months living in Santiago, Chile and another 3 months teaching 9th and 10th graders English. I understand that learning a language can be one of the most challenging subjects a student can take, but I also believe it is the most rewarding. I just finished my freshman year at Loyola University Chicago majoring in Environmental Engineering. My first tutoring experience was volunteering at my high school to help my classmates with math and reading subjects. I loved it because I got to make so many new friends while also helping them achieve their academic goals. I have always been passionate about education and learning, but I didn't realize that I wanted to be a teacher until after I had already spent five years working in finance. After graduating from the University of Florida with an accounting degree, I began my professional career as a Finance Analyst at Goldman Sachs. I stayed in that role for two years and then moved into investor relations. While I learned a lot from this experience, ultimately I wanted to do something that made more of a positive impact on society. I decided to pursue a career in education because I wanted to help provide students with the same opportunities that I received.I am now pursuing a Master's Degree in education from the University of Minnesota and am working toward obtaining my K-6 elementary teaching license. During the day, I work full time as a reading tutor at a school in South Minneapolis. I enjoy basketball, video games, hiking, and reading. In addition to my undergraduate degree in finance, I also received my CFA Charter in 2019.I am very passionate about tutoring and hold myself to a high standard. I am an engineering student at the University of Minnesota's College of Science and Engineering, with plans to major in Aerospace Engineering. When I was young I thought I was terrible at math, but now I realize that I wasn't being taught it in an engaging way, and I didn't have a great work ethic toward learning it, myself. I would like to help others discover the scientist or mathematician in themselves, so they don't have to discover it as late as I did.
