My career in education has been fulfilling and varied. After obtaining my BA in English and History from the College of Charleston, I went on to earn two masters degrees from The Citadel Graduate College: one in Secondary English Education, and the other in Literacy Education.

Being the nerd that I am, my time as a student didn't end there. Throughout my career I have gone on to get my certifications in Gifted and Talented Education, Teaching Children of Poverty, as well as my history, literacy, and ESOL certifications.

I have taught in Charleston County School District for the past 5 years focusing on attentive education and individualized learning. I have also been fortunate enough to teach at the local juvenile detention center, and as an Adjunct Professor at The Citadel Military College.

Teaching remains to be my passion due to its combination of sharing stories I love, and the ability to love other people. I take great joy in seeing my students find success in areas they never thought possible.

That passion and ability has gotten me several recognitions including Teacher of the Year district finalist, a feature on the local news, among other awards.

My newest educational venture has taken me into the non-profit realm, as the first president of the newly-founded Charleston Literacy Association.

While it may feel my life is in my classroom, I can also be found combing through a bookstore, participating in a local dance class, seeing friends and family, and annoying my kitten, Niles.
