I am a senior and Rodman Scholar at the University of Virginia majoring in Mechanical Engineering. I have always been passionate about using science to design and build projects, from high-powered rocketry to building a solar-powered electric car, and want to share my knowledge and enthusiasm with others. I have experience tutoring middle and high school students in a range of subjects, including mathematics, physics, and computer programming, as well as music theory and flute performance. I also developed curriculum and was a teaching assistant for UVA's Intro to Engineering course. I believe in meeting students where they are, and guiding them to the answers through leading questions rather than formulaic procedures. Students are often only taught in one way, but I pride myself at finding a variety of approaches to explain material the way the student understands it best. In particular, I find that covering the intuition and purpose behind challenging material makes the content both more accessible and enjoyable. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, playing classical and jazz flute, skiing, hiking, backing, and playing tennis.
