Certified Tutor
I am passionate about education because I find fulfillment in helping students understand a subject and connect with it on a deeper level. Nothing is more rewarding than witnessing their "aha" moments when history comes alive.
With experience teaching college freshmen and sophomores, as well as leading high school workshops and seminars, I excel at breaking down complex historical narratives and making them engaging.
I earned my B.A. in History from Spelman College, graduating magna cum laude, and an M.A. in History from the University of Maryland, College Park, specializing in African American, Latin American, and Caribbean History. As a Fulbright Fellow, I deepened my global research perspective. I later earned a Master's in Library and Information Sciences from the University of Pittsburgh, enhancing my research and archival expertise.
I tutor beginner's Spanish, American Studies, American History, Art History, and World History, but History remains my favorite, as I love helping students see its relevance in today's world. My teaching philosophy is simple: History is more than names and datesit's a living narrative that shapes our future. I strive to make it engaging, accessible, and thought-provoking.
Beyond academia, I enjoy Marvel movies and video games, especially the Assassin's Creed series, which reflects my love for history and storytelling in unique and immersive ways.
