I am very happy with our experience so far with Varsity Tutors. They matched my daughter with reading specialist Mary and she is wonderful! My 10 year old daughter feels happy after her sessions and believes her tutor has already helped her.

Certified Tutor

As a life-long learner, I am dedicated to enstilling my passion for education in young kids so that they can grow and become strong learners in the future! I am a graduate from the University of South Carolina's Honors College with a Bachelors degree in Psychology and minors in Spanish and Public Health. Currently, I work full-time as a Research Assistant at a University in their Psychiatry and Behavioral Neuroscience Department, however I have always been passionate about working with kids and education so I tutor in my free time! Eventually, I plan on obtaining a Ph.D. in Clinical and School Psychology. I am a strong student and a lover of learning, especially when it comes to Psychology, writing, science, and reading comprehension. I have a strong background in research, having conducted my own study in undergrad and currently managing an ongoing study. If your student is interested in learning more about the research field, I would love to share my experience with them! I have a great attention to detail, am excellent at time-management, and have a flexible schedule so I am able to meet with students when needed. I have experience tutoring kids as young as 5 as well as high schoolers, and many of the students I have worked with are twice-exceptional, meaning they are extremely bright and also struggle with a neurodivergent diagnoses. This has taught me the importance of patience, creativity, and compassion when working with kids. I make sure all the lessons are fun, engaging, and try to relate topics to the real world so your student can see how everything they are learning connects to and impacts their life.

Hobbies

In my free time, I love to do crafts. I crochet and paint, and while I may not be the best at either of them, I still have fun with it! I also am an avid baker, but don't have much of a sweet tooth, so I typically give out my baked goods to friends and family. I love to read and write as well, and dedicate some time every night to journal and read a book. I usually am reading multiple books at a time, and always have good recommendations if someone is looking for a new read!
