Certified Tutor

As a rising fourth-year student at Grinnell College, majoring in Psychology with a concentration in Neuroscience, I am deeply passionate about helping students unlock their full potential. My educational journey has equipped me with a robust understanding of both the mind and brain, allowing me to offer unique insights and strategies to my students.

My experience working with students spans several roles and diverse environments. As a Research Assistant in the Education Department at Grinnell, I conducted comprehensive research on racial incidents in schools and communities, contributing to recommendations for addressing racial disparities in education. Additionally, my role as a Research Assistant in the Neuroscience Department involved utilizing advanced microscopy techniques to investigate the impact of stress on neuronal connectivity. These positions have honed my analytical skills and deepened my understanding of the educational and psychological challenges students face.

I have also gained valuable experience through internships and externships, such as at the Lakeside Community Committee in Chicago and Blue Shield of California. These roles have provided me with a broader perspective on the intersection of education, healthcare, and community support, further fueling my commitment to helping students succeed academically and personally.

I offer tutoring in a wide range of subjects, with a particular passion for Psychology and Neuroscience. These fields fascinate me because they provide insights into human behavior and the brain's intricate workings, which are crucial for understanding and improving learning processes. My favorite subjects to tutor are those that delve into these areas, as I find it immensely rewarding to see students grasp complex concepts and apply them to real-world scenarios.

My teaching philosophy is rooted in the belief that every student has the potential to excel given the right support and resources. I adopt a personalized approach, tailoring my teaching methods to each student's learning style and needs. My tutoring style is interactive and engaging, encouraging students to ask questions, think critically, and develop a genuine interest in the subject matter.

Outside of academia, I enjoy volunteering and community service. My volunteer work at the Mayflower Community, University of Iowa Mobile Clinic, and UnityPoint Health has allowed me to provide companionship and support to older residents, perform vital sign assessments for patients, and gain firsthand exposure to medical careers. These experiences have enriched my interpersonal skills and reinforced my dedication to making a positive impact on others' lives.

In summary, I am committed to helping students achieve their academic goals by providing thoughtful, personalized, and engaging tutoring. With my background in Psychology and Neuroscience, combined with diverse research and volunteer experiences, I am well-equipped to support students in their educational journey and inspire a lifelong love of learning.
