Certified Tutor

I am a graduate from The Ohio State University, where I majored in Sociology with a double minor in International Studies and EEDS (Environment, Economy, Development and Sustainability). Right now I am working to gain experience in teaching as I am starting my Master's of Public Administration in Autumn 2021 at OSU! I've gravitated towards Varsity Tutors because I love learning and helping others better understand class material. I have tutored in the past for beginner French as well as Elementary Math. I have experience teaching as I used to be a swim instructor for children ages 4-13, including some special needs swim courses. My favorite subjects to tutor involve the social sciences/humanities. Sociology/Psychology/Criminology are the courses I am most interested in, and I love working with others so they can understand the material while being able to use their knowledge in the real world. Overall, my teaching philosophy encompasses the mindset that one truly understands a subject when you are able to explain and teach others who are just beginning. With this mindset, I am not only able to help those I tutor, but I am also gaining knowledge myself! In regards to my tutoring style, I certainly like to stay focused while working with students. I want to make sure we maximize the benefit received during our sessions, so I will make sure we work efficiently and effectively during our time together. Outside of academia, my interests include cooking, singing, working out, and playing video games with my partner :)
