Certified Tutor

I have been a dedicated teacher for twenty-two years in an extensive inner-city public school system. My education, experience, and training make me an excellent teacher.I received a Bachelor of Science in French with a minor in linguistics from Georgetown University.Because I have studied Linguistics, I have an excellent knowledge of English grammar and phonetics and phonology. After graduating from Georgetown University, I attended Temple University and earned a Master of Education Degree in Special Education. As a teacher, I use my training to identify disabilities or learning difficulties and to choose appropriate strategies to help children to overcome these difficulties.In addition to my degrees, I have state certifications in French, Spanish, English, Communication, Special Education, and State Program Specialist Certification in English as a Second Language.Recently, I have earned a TEFL Certificate.I also have been trained in Reading Correction.I have collaborated several teachers to create a student-friendly State Writing Rubric and a Writing Reference Guide for students at my school. I have taught students from various cultural and linguistic backgrounds and abilities and between the ages of five to twenty-one.I have taught English, Advanced Placement English Language and Composition, Spanish, Corrective Reading, reading intervention programs, English as a Second beginning to advanced levels.I have also prepared my students to take the state standardized tests.I believe that education is necessary for students to have a better quality of life.I enjoy helping students to overcome any barriers that might prevent them from obtaining their goals. When I am not teaching or studying, I am reading or exploring the historical sections of my city.
