I graduated from the University of Michigan- Ann Arbor in 2017. At Michigan I studied Women's Studies, Art History, English and Spanish. I spent a semester abroad in Buenos Aires, where I cemented my fluency in Spanish. While in Argentina I traveled throughout the country, from the northern salt flats to Patagonia in the far south. I also spent time in Uruguay and Chile. After graduation, I spent time in Cuba, and then moved permanently to Chicago. In Chicago, I taught ESL (I have a TEFL certification) at a community center to immigrants and refugees from all over the world. During this past year I received my masters degree in Journalism from Northwestern University's Medill School of Journalism. I focused on social justice investigative reporting, specifically focusing on immigration reporting. I'm currently a freelance reporter in Chicago.
In addition to teaching ESL, I've also tutored in writing. It's my favorite thing to teach. For whatever reason, lots of people are afraid of writing. My goal is for all my students to come to love the craft, or at least have confidence in their ability to do it well. I love to help people improve essays for school, as well as college admission essays.
In my free time I like to read, listen to podcasts, paint my nails, go to thrift stores, and spend time by the lake.
