Certified Tutor

As a reading and writing tutor, I have experience working with students all the way to the graduate level. I love helping students with a broad range of writing and reading assignments, from test prep to essay writing. Through our sessions, my students have earned As on difficult essays, raised their overall class grades, improved their SAT scores, gained admission to top universities, and built their confidence as writers, readers, and thinkers.

At the root of my passion for tutoring is the "growth mindset" outlook: the idea that academic ability is not set in stone; that all students, at all levels, have the potential to grow; and that with hard work and effective support, they will. As a tutor, I am committed to nurturing and maintaining a growth mindset in my sessions. Whether a learner is a top-scoring perfectionist with a fear of failure or a struggling student who believes they cannot succeed, a growth mindset will improve their relationship with learning.

I completed my bachelor's degree in English at Kenyon College, where I graduated summa cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa, and with high honors. During my third year, I studied abroad for two terms at the University of Oxford, where I experienced the benefits of a one-on-one tutorial system firsthand. I also earned perfect scores on the verbal sections of both the SAT and the GRE.

I tutor a wide range of subjects. Among my areas of expertise are English literature, critical reading/verbal reasoning, test prep, and writing.

Outside of tutoring, my personal interests include reading, writing, drawing/painting, horseback riding, and playing with my two cats.
