As education and technology continue to advance, we must remain at the brink of its discovery or get left behind. I aim to assist anyone who is ready to take charge of the changing world around us and help transform the community we live into a more equitable demographic of opportunity, health, and education. That is why I joined Varsity Tutors. As a recent college graduate, I aim to implement fresh and informed ideas that reassure you I am a valuable asset in your child's academic future. Further, I am drawn to tutor as it will allow an opportunity to hold children, parents, and myself accountable to a future of cooperation, utility, and follow-through. Always ready to step in and speak up, I am an activist who is excited to be more than an advocate, but an ally.

To better understand my potential, I must share a glance into my past. Although I was in the accelerated program throughout primary school education, I faced difficulty in many of my collegiate science classes. A hard work ethic and ability to ask for help allowed me to graduate with honors for my Bachelor's of Science and Master's of Biological Sciences. Eager to prevent others from the same struggle, I created FunLab, Inc.-, a volunteer program that immerses children in scientific experimentation. As a science tutor, I created FubLab, Inc. to strengthen content gaps identified in students at M. Agnes Jones Elementary students as a science tutor. Resilient to setbacks inherent to many startups, FunLab, Inc. turned into a nonprofit that today. I attribute its whose success, in part, to research on inquiry-based curricula in primary education I conducted at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. where I conducted research on inquiry-based curricula in primary education. I and presented its benefits to colleagues, which assisted St. Jude hospital in its iBook, a platform developed to teaches patient about their cancer diagnosis. Patients now receive the iBook once admitted, and FunLab is still in operation.

Passionate about mentorship as well as education, I began working in Memphis at Youth Villages Boys Center for Intensive Research in 2015. In this position, I gained hands-on experience with emotionally and behaviorally challenged boys, ages 11-16 referred to us for different reasons. Boys Center for Intensive Residential Treatment, where I worked dealt with issues like severe aggression, inappropriate sexual behaviors, transgender identities and suicidal tendencies. In my daily interaction with at-risk adolescents, my main duties as a counselor were to use creativity to teach necessary life skills and implement each boy's treatment plan to facilitate behavior modifications. Though these days were long and difficult, I gave it my all each as my boys had all been to court for criminal offenses; but were instead given a second chance. I wanted to make their new shot worth taking. I tailored my efforts to match their needs that began to build rapport to reach them in ways that inspired increased their self-responsibility. Today, I appreciate that role because it reaffirmed my confidence to control any classroom amidst potential disruptions. Taken together, I have over five years of project management and data entry as a grant writer, editor, non-profit executive, mentor and graduate student who, above all, seeks to work tirelessly towards a better future for those around me. I am excited to impact even more social change with Varsity Tutors.
