I earned my Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Northern Arizona University. During my coursework, I had wonderful and challenging experiences working in 1st-6th grade classrooms and student teaching for a 1st grade class in Flagstaff, AZ. After graduating, I had an opportunity to teach ESL to over seventy 1st graders and over fifty 2nd graders in a newly-started Honduran school with limited resources. In Honduras, I spent countless hours creating an ESL curriculum and hand-making ESL worksheets, assessments, and booklets for my students. After returning from Honduras, I accepted a position as a Title I Reading Coach Assistant. I made great progress with helping students fine-tune skills in phonemic awareness, phonics, comprehension, fluency and vocabulary. I have also worked as a Behavioral Health Worker at Northland Family Help Center in Flagstaff in which I aided youth in crisis to meet their behavioral, emotional, academic, and life goals one step at a time.

This past year I taught 1st/2nd grade at the Peaks school. I was very successful with using different techniques such as differentiated centers, projects and adapted lessons to meet each student at their level and interests. I also won the 2016 Sustainability in Education Award for a unit I created that involved the local Community Supported Agriculture and setting up our schools' first greenhouse. I recently moved to Tucson and have been teaching reading to Title I students and teaching ESL online to Chinese and Korean adults and children. I also received my K-12 endorsement and have been creating and implementing art curriculum to 6th, 7th and 8th graders.

I am prepared to create lessons and larger units that align with standards and touch on multiple disciplines. I am confident and my creative and intellectual skills that aide in my ability to develop curriculum that is relevant, rigorous and very interesting. I strive to create cohesive lessons that help students move on from my class with a greater confidence, enthusiastic curiosity, and ability to critically think.
