As a current high school teacher, I understand the importance high stakes tests like the SAT, ACT, and Regents exams and how impactful these tests can be on one's ability to access a variety of educational opportunities. I also recognize the importance of building strong relationships with students and families, and making sure that instruction is differentiated to meet the needs of individual students. As a personal tutor, I strive to support students in successfully building content knowledge and confidence to allow them to improve their future academic trajectory.

For the past five years, I have worked extensively both as a teacher and a tutor to lead my students to a high level of success in the classroom and on high stakes assessments. As an Algebra 1 teacher, my students have consistently had the highest scores on state assessments across my school. Most recently, 98% of my students passed the Algebra 1 Regents Exam last school year. I have also worked with adults teaching a preparatory course for a required teacher certification test through Relay Graduate School of Education. I revised curriculum materials from the program and worked with small groups of up to 6 graduate students. During the class, I modeled individual problems, assessed student understanding through giving rapid feedback on practice problems completed by students, and adapted to fix misconceptions as they arose.

Every time I tutor, I utilize the skills and knowledge I have developed as a classroom teacher. By building strong conceptual understanding and reasoning skills, I help to improve students' confidence and ability to tackle novel problems and work through confusion. I look forward to continuing this work and helping others to access further educational opportunities.
