I am student at the University of Illinois Chicago studying Biology on a Pre-Medical track. I have been a TA for multiple classes at UIC and have had multiple years of experience tutoring in math all the way up to calculus and science such as College Level Gen Chemistry and Gen Biology. When I was younger getting proper tutoring really changed my goals and trajectory for high school as it really help me set the by high for myself and achieve my goals. I received my bachelor's degree from the University of Notre Dame in 2009 and my master's degree from the University of Connecticut in 2013. I'm a rising junior at Columbia University studying English literature and computer science. I'm excited to begin my first summer working with Varsity Tutors! My strongest tutoring areas include ACT test prep, algebra and calculus I, computer science (Java and C) and building reading and writing skills (including essay assignments). I have experience tutoring and mentoring middle school and high school students. My tutoring style is relaxed but efficient; I always try to keep the material interesting and focus on the big picture over minutiae. I earned my B.A. in Interdisciplinary Studies (with a double minor in Human Resource Development and Communication) from Northeastern Illinois University in May 2014. During my undergraduate coursework, I worked in the Center for Academic Writing as a peer tutor for students taking the writing intensive course required for degree completion. I tutored traditional college students as well as older adult college students. Many of the learners I had the opportunity to empower were ESL/ELL students. I tutor 5th to 12th grade students one-on-one, in-person and online, and work with them on mathematics (5th grade math to Calculus I), writing, their reading comprehension skills and vocabulary. To date, I have dedicated over 800 hours of service and have worked with over 50 students that are part of this organization.Since April 2022, I have also been a private tutor. To date, I have tutored over 250 students from across the US and Canada on a one-on-one basis online.
