I received a Bachelor's Degree from Fairfield University. I majored in Biology and Spanish. Since then, I've been working in the New York City public school system as an educator for elementary school children. I have experience working with students in kindergarten, first grade and have even taught summer school for fourth graders. Most of my experience lies within the first grade year being that I worked as a first grade teacher for the past two years. In that time, I focused on teaching students how to read and hone in on phonemic skills to get them up to speed in their classroom environment. Additionally, I worked in an integrated co-teaching environment where I was exposed to students who exhibit a wide array of different learning disabilities. I worked and tutored students that benefit from a wide array of support systems in the classroom. More recently, I am working towards gaining entry into medical school.

I am comfortable teaching students in elementary school from kindergarten to fifth grade in all subject areas. I can also teach basic science material. Due to my recent tutoring sessions, I have grown fond of tutoring young kids on the fundamentals of reading and writing. I also enjoyed math as a young kid and enjoy tutoring in that subject area as well.

I am a strong believer in teaching students at their own pace. When it's one-on-one time, I make sure that we start with material that the student feels comfortable with to build on their level of confidence, which is an attribute that rarely gets enforced in a large classroom setting. Identifying a student's mastery of certain concepts will help identify why they maybe having weaknesses in a subsequent concept that they have not yet mastered. Lastly, I always strive to make learning fun, productive and cool. I am stern and have a strong work ethic so I push my students to reach their potential.

Aside from tutoring, I love painting and watching/playing sports, particularly baseball. I enjoy exercising, I do kickboxing and yoga several times a week. I also enjoy reading and enjoy different cultures through food.
