Hi! I'm Jasmine.

I have had teaching experience at J. W. Eater Jr. High School in Rantoul, Illinois where I was an after-school tutor. I helped students with homework, and tutored them in basic subjects such as Math, Science, Language Arts and Social Studies. I have also worked with STEM students in Champaign-Urbana for academic outreach. We conducted renewable energy experiments with students and encouraged young students to pursue potential interests in the STEM field.

I taught students that were at all different levels in their subjects. It was a valuable experience as I learned that not everyone learns the same way. Education is very personal and the younger students I taught had their own way of picking up concepts. It was something I had to learn in the process. Generally, I feel like this made me a better student because when working in groups, we need to understand each others dynamic and how we take in information. Knowing this ultimately leads to a more successful project.

I also have leadership experience in multiple students organizations during my undergraduate career. I enjoy working in teams and collaborating with teammates. My work as an Assistant Researcher and the courses that I have completed so far and am currently enrolled in provide me with a strong understanding of the fundamentals of Civil Engineering. My leadership role in Engineering Council has helped me with time management and organizing various projects. Furthermore, The Universitys Steel Bridge Team has given me hands-on experience about bridge design and construction. It emphasized the importance of stability and inspection of constructed portions. With these experiences, I believe I have acquired the skills to be a good fit for this position. This opportunity would help facilitate a better understanding of my interests in this field, and develop my skill set as a pursuing engineer.
