What is your teaching philosophy?
Breaking down everything so that the students understand the concepts as best they can.
What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
Depending on what the student wants; when I start tutoring the student, I would get to know the student so that I can tailor my teaching to them.
How can you help a student become an independent learner?
I will help a student become an independent learner by first guiding and helping them. Once it seems like they have a concrete understanding of concepts, I will let them drive the problem solving.
How would you help a student stay motivated?
I would help a student stay motivated through learning goals/benchmarks and making sure they are enjoying the learning process.
If a student has difficulty learning a skill or concept, what would you do?
I would break down the concepts and use less formal terms. I will go at the pace of the student and never rush/force anything.
What strategies have you found to be most successful when you start to work with a student?
My strategy is to first get to know the student. The more I know about a student, the better the tutor experience can be.
