I believe understanding is the path to learning and I endeavor to help students in their journey. My peers describe me as soft spoken and patient. My teaching strategy includes compassion and encouragement; simultaneously, I am structured and clear with instructions. I believe in utilizing analogies to facilitate the learning process and keeping instruction based on the students personal experience. Knowledge should be fun and exciting.
I'm a biologist with a background in psychology. I have taught for FAU summer science institute and have taught undergraduate level Anatomy & Physiology lab courses. Primary school classrooms are familiar to me as well. I taught a college education lab for the early development of reading and math in primary education and my cognitive science bachelors gives me insight into learning development and styles. I have tutored for over two decades in math, science, English, reading and comprehension, and test prep.
I spend my spare time diving, snorkeling, sailing, reading, and playing with my dogs.
My hope is to share the strategies for my academic and professional success with anyone endeavoring to pursue an education (formal or otherwise). The exercise of studying can seem daunting, but the rewards harvested are always worth it.

What is your teaching philosophy?
With children, I use many different games to reinforce lessons. For older students, I try and relate lessons to real life or their personal interests.
