Maria
Certified Tutor
I am a graduate of Hunter College with a Masters of Science in Education, with a focus on Deaf and Hard of Hearing and Students with Disabilities. I am certified as a New York State teacher, working with the New York City Department of Education. My philosophy on teaching is quite simple: each student learns in their own way and it is the responsibility of a teacher/tutor to determine how a student learns, determine their needs and create lessons that the student will feel successful in completing while fostering their unique learning styles. When I am not teaching, I enjoy spending time with my family, learning new things, taking my dog for long walks and curling up on the porch with a good book or the latest "it" book.

What is your teaching philosophy?
I believe that ALL students have a way that they learn. A teacher needs to find a way to identify how their students learn. The students’ strengths, weaknesses, and their interests. It's important to create lessons that help students reach their fullest potential while allowing students to be comfortable and feel successful in their own way.
