Knowledge is the greatest gift you can give to a person, and I try my best to do that every day. I believe that my style of tutoring, which involves intense collaboration, is conducive to helping students succeed. My ability to prepare and explain subject matter is of utmost quality.
Moreover, my penchant for connecting with students on a personal level makes the tutoring experience enjoyable for everyone.
I currently hold a Master's Degree in Accounting from the University of Texas and a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting from St. Edward's University.
My work centers around general/common mathematics and business courses (outside of my regular position as a staff accountant).

What is your teaching philosophy?
I believe in a collaborative style of teaching; this involves me and the student doing problems together.
What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
Introduce myself, gauge the student's progress in the course, ask the student what teaching style is most effective for learning.
How can you help a student become an independent learner?
Ask the student to do problems on independently, ask the student to explains solutions obtained independently.
How would you help a student stay motivated?
Words of encouragement and a general "glass half-full" mentality.
If a student has difficulty learning a skill or concept, what would you do?
Adapt my style.
How do you help students who are struggling with reading comprehension?
Read with the student and help him/her sound out words.
What strategies have you found to be most successful when you start to work with a student?
Asking about a student's proficiency level on certain content.
How would you help a student get excited/engaged with a subject that they are struggling in?
Raise my energy level, share a real-world example.
What techniques would you use to be sure that a student understands the material?
Asking open questions, forcing the student to explain how he/she got his/her solution.
How do you build a student's confidence in a subject?
Doing many examples, giving words of encouragement.
How do you evaluate a student's needs?
Ask questions at the beginning of the session.
How do you adapt your tutoring to the student's needs?
Preventing myself from interjecting, letting the student finish his/her thoughts.

Paper, pencil, reference material (digital and print), calculator, colored pens.
