I have a bachelor's degree in Physics and Atmospheric Science. I believe that learning is essential in the modern world and strive to help others become successful. In doing so, I also learn myself. I have had a passion in learning and teaching math to others since elementary school. I believe it's a highly applicable subject that everyone can learn if done in the right manner. In my free time, I love to weight lift, watch sports, play video games, and hang out with friends.

What is your teaching philosophy?
Set goals and accommodate learning styles.
What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
Goal setting. Learning what they know. Depending on how frequent tutoring will happen and age, personal details.
How can you help a student become an independent learner?
Give them tools to help them remember new ideas. The goal is to teach the students how to learn.
How would you help a student stay motivated?
Goal setting.
If a student has difficulty learning a skill or concept, what would you do?
Repeat it in writing, verbal, and written form. If this doesn't work, find new ways to explain the concept.
How do you help students who are struggling with reading comprehension?
Break things down word by word.
What strategies have you found to be most successful when you start to work with a student?
Goal setting. Learning what they want to get out of tutoring.
How would you help a student get excited/engaged with a subject that they are struggling in?
I would talk to the student about applications and find how it applies to what interests them already.
What techniques would you use to be sure that a student understands the material?
I would use practice problems and ask them fundamentals.
How do you build a student's confidence in a subject?
I build their confidence with simple positive reinforcement.
How do you evaluate a student's needs?
I evaluate them by starting with what they know already.
How do you adapt your tutoring to the student's needs?
I adapt by incorporating learning styles that best suit the student.
What types of materials do you typically use during a tutoring session?
Practice problems, flashcards, and the student's examples.
