This past May, I graduated with a BA in Political Science and Economics and a Minor in Spanish, and I graduated magna cum laude. During my undergraduate career, I helped fellow classmates with essay writing and research skills (skills I developed thanks to my debate background). I have also been mentoring students from my high school's Speech and Debate Team for the past 3 years. I've watched them go from nothing to something spectacular and really making a name for themselves on the debate circuit. I love to see students succeed after someone from their support group has put in a tremendous amount of effort to help them succeed. It is from these experiences in my undergraduate career that helped me realize I have an ability and love for teaching.

My primary topics of interest and expertise are in the Social Sciences, namely anything dealing with government, politics, economics, and philosophy. However, I do have experience working with fellow students on statistics, probability, and algebraic problems. As far as mathematical and economics problems are concerned, I tend to encourage using multiple sources and approaches until a student finds that which is best for them. This may range from sticking to the textbook, lecture notes, videos, and articles that explain and teach the respective concept. My strongest teaching skills are in essay writing, where I work with the student to compile their essays much in the same way debaters formulate their case positions: gathering research, brainstorming structured outlines, and then writing up multiple drafts. After every lesson, I give a small to-do-list of things for the student to work on until the next lesson.

I also ask that students do everything they can to help me help them: providing a copy of the course syllabus and/or class text for myself to better prepare ahead of time for lessons, and that students give constructive feedback after lessons so that I can see where I myself need improvement. I am comfortable driving to a public library, school campus, bookstore, coffee shop, etc. for tutoring sessions.

Outside of academia, I'm pretty active in martial arts extracurricular. I currently train, compete, and perform with a Wushu Kungfu Club at the University of Houston. Alongside the club, I take private training sessions in wushu and Chinese kickboxing. I spend 4-5 days a week conditioning and working out. On Fridays and Saturdays, I tend to be contract judging at Speech & Debate Tournaments.
