Certified Tutor

I have always had a passion for learning, as is evidenced by my 6 years of higher education. I received my Bachelors of Science in Nutrition and Dietetics at Cornell University and am in the final semester of my Masters of Science in Community Nutrition at Southern Illinois University-Carbondale. I will graduate in August of 2015 as a Registered Dietitian. My long-term goal is to obtain my PhD to become a college professor in food policy and nutrition. I hope to use tutoring as an introduction to my teaching career!

As a Nutrition and Dietetics graduate, my knowledge base is broad, but I am most familiar with math and science concepts. I enjoy teaching math because there are typically multiple ways of solving a problem, which is helpful when students struggle to understand concepts. I enjoy teaching the complex relationships between human organ systems in science and think the human body is an incredible machine!

Over the years I have developed study skills conducive to my success at a rigorous Ivy League school, and am currently in the top of my class in my Masters program. I am a patient tutor and understand that not everyone learns in the same way. Therefore, I strive to offer multiple ways of learning new and/or difficult concepts. If something is not working with my tutoring style, I encourage you to give me honest feedback in order to help you in the best way possible. I am open to trying new methods of teaching and ask that each student is equally as open to learning.

In my spare time, I enjoy being outdoors and enjoying the sunshine, reading, cooking, soccer, working out and exploring all that St. Louis has to offer. I look forward to meeting you and helping you achieve your academic goals!
