Certified Tutor

I graduated with a 4.0 from Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas, with a Bachelor’s of Arts in English. While pursuing my degree, I logged over 600 hours in the public school classroom working mostly with middle school and high school students, although I did have some experience working with elementary school students. I have taught in whole class, small group, and individual settings, and I anticipate receiving my Texas teacher certification by the end of January 2014. I believe all students can learn and achieve through practice and hard work, regardless of the subject area and individual strengths and weaknesses. I love reading for recreation, but I am extremely passionate about writing; I believe that this passion transfers well to my students. I am comfortable tutoring any English related subject, beyond Reading Comprehension and Writing. My other hobbies include listening to music and shopping– both of which attracted me to the Austin area. I believe that learning lasts a lifetime, and as a part of my journey to become a lifelong learner, I am currently pursuing a Master's Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling.
