Meagan
Certified Tutor
I began as a volunteer tutor for elementary school students in Math, Science, and Reading and decided to continue my love of teaching into higher level courses. I currently tutor in the above topics, with a specific passion for Biology, Chemistry, and test preparation. As a tutor, I strive to challenge students beyond fundamentals, while focusing on and accommodating individual needs and individual learning styles. As an sewing and crafting enthusiast, I understand that with practice, tenacity, and perseverance comes success, a lesson I apply to my life and to my tutoring.

What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
Before entering into any teaching, I believe it is important to discuss the concerns the student has toward the material as well as their prior exposure to tutoring and study aids. This approach allows me to directly address their needs and insecurities, thus quickly increasing their confidence. This confidence boost encourages the tutoring process and helps associate learning with positive emotions (something everyone needs when working through tough or confusing material).
