Certified Tutor

I have a Master of Science in Education and Students with Disabilities (Birth- Grade 6). I'm currently working as a substitute teacher for Locust Valley and Merrick school districts. This summer I will be working as a Special Needs Coordinator in a day camp on Long Island.

While earning my undergrad degree, I was an Academic Via Individual Determination (AVID) tutor for Scottsdale School District. Through AVID, I learned how to build my students' academic confidence by providing encouragement and fostering higher-level thinking and problem solving. I also spent six months at the Alicante Language Institute in Alicante, Spain, learning the Spanish language and culture.

After earning my undergraduate degree, I spent one month as a native English speaking volunteer in a school in La Serena, Chile. I am very organized, and I enjoy tailoring lessons to the needs of my students. I have worked with many student populations, and I have built a wonderful rapport with all of my students. Working with children has challenged me to be creative, nurturing, and most of all, patient. I believe that there are various forms of knowledge and every student has their own specialty.

My greatest strengths include inspiring and motivating students. With over five years of general classroom experience and the desire to provide all students with an excellent education, I am confident in my abilities as an educator. In my spare time I enjoy reading and photography, and I teach Pilates in a local fitness and health center."
