I graduated from Binghamton University with a degree in Human Development and a concentration in Psychology. I've wanted to teach for as long as I can remember, however Binghamton does not offer an undergraduate degree in Education. After graduating in May, I was eager to get into the classroom as soon as possible. Therefore, I applied and became a New York City Teaching Fellow, and am now certified to teach Adolescent Mathematics grades 7-12. This past summer, I taught 6th and 7th grade Math at a summer school in the Bronx. The summer before that, I taught literacy and writing to children in East Harlem. I am now currently the 7th Grade Math teacher at a middle school in the Bronx. Math is one of my passions, although I have a strong liberal arts background as well. Throughout my undergraduate career, I was constantly involved in tutoring and mentoring programs. I absolutely love having the opportunity to work one-on-one with students. I enjoy getting to know students on a personal level, enabling me to push each child to his or her fullest potential. I am a strong believer that individualized instruction is the key ingredient to academic success.
When I am not in the classroom, I am either listening to music, watching a Yankee game, reading, or am found guilty of online shopping. However, I try to incorporate my hobbies into my classroom as often as possible! This makes learning math, or any subject for that matter, much more enjoyable!
