We reviewed her homework for the week together and used it as a review for the next test. This week we covered use of the distance and midpoint equations. We also reviewed characteristics of parallelograms and their properties in order to solve first level equations. The student struggled most with identifying the correct rules and math proofs to solve geometry problems, but consistent practice will increase her comfort level. Overall it was a good session.

Since the student started kindergarten, I have used the teacher's instructions as my guide. We continued to work on neat, well-placed printing and rhymes. Although we had previously worked with "an" and "at" rhymes, she seemed unfamiliar with them. She tries to memorize the words rather than the sound of the letters. As usual, she was high spirited, but cooperative.

Tonight, the student and I had a session to review for her Pre-Calc test tomorrow. She had a worksheet from her teacher that we went over. It covered inverse functions, composite functions, and optimization problems. We talked through each of them, and she seemed very confident and was able to complete most of them on her own. She only had slight trouble with a few, particularly a step in an inverse function calculation and remembering basic geometry formulas. After some practice, she got them down too. I feel confident she will do well on her test tomorrow!

The student and I continued progressing through his online schooling. For his math we went over cross multiplication, in science we went over solution concentrations, and in English we studied sequences in short stories.

The student and I continued reviewing for next week's exam. We practiced finding the zeros of functions, finding irrational zeros, and using factoring to find asymptotes. The latter two concepts still require a bit more practice before the exam. We also reviewed some of her homework problems.
