We covered different geometric shapes, including circles, triangles, squares, and rectangles. Learned the definition of radius, diameter, pi, circumference, perimeter, and area as it relates to different geometric shapes. Reviewed a previous math test covering fractions that the student scored a 52% on. The student scored a 92% on his most recent Science exam which we studied for.

Yesterday we went over logarithms. We practiced converting them to exponential form, as well as from exponential to logarithmic form. We completed word problems using the compound interest formula. These problems also involved solving logarithmic equations. The student needs help with solving equations. Sometimes she is unsure of which operations to use to bring a term to the other side of the equation. Next session we will work more with this concept and review logarithms again afterwards.

During my session with the student, we worked on vocabulary review for her upcoming test on Acts I and II of "Julius Caesar" by William Shakespeare. She struggled most with the correct spelling of her vocabulary words, often confusing the 'a' vowel "shwa" sound for 'e'. She seemed confident about the material we reviewed and gained more confidence with each word definition she remembered. As a strategy, I suggested that the student try spelling the words out loud so that she will use her auditory senses to aid her in memorizing the correct spelling. For extra practice, the student is to find her assigned vocabulary words in the "Julius Caesar" text to help her have more context for which to associate the words with. I think the student will do very well on the upcoming exam since she has made an effort to prepare as much as possible in advance.

We studied for a test on triangles today - the student seemed very confident on the concepts and answered all the questions on the practice quiz correctly, so I'm not worried about his performance on the quiz!

The student is doing fantastic work! He's been spelling words and continually pushes himself. We're incorporating reading and writing sentences in.
